@paxton Your SA sounds like he/she is on top of it. Not all SA's go that extra mile. May I ask who you're working with? Thanks and may the car bring many smiles.

Waiting for allocation 992 C2 Toronto
Does anyone know how Downtown Porsche ( Toronto) allocates cars?
they side step all attempts to get any solid information on their policy’s!
either they don’t know or are BS’ing me at every attempt to get info.
Any information would be appreciated!

Can’t speak to Toronto dealer. But more generally, dealers get allocations for specific builds (S, Turbo, GT3, etc) on specific production/delivery dates. Allocations are doled out by Porsche corporate, and given the supply chain issues and other world events, dealers may only get 1-2 per allocations at a time (I think it is monthly - someone can correct me if I am wrong). And the allocations dealers have been getting are titled towards the more expensive builds lately. So getting an allocation is a function of the dealer having an allocation for the build you want and where you are on a waiting list.
My experience is that dealers aren’t hiding the ball on giving out allocations, but are somewhat reluctant to say they don’t have an allocation and don’t know when they will get one (bc they want you to buy from them). I ran into this a few times, but called around and hit the lottery with a dealer an hour away that did have an allocation for my desired build. From finding the dealer to delivery (which is next week) was 3.5 months.

Thank you, so very much, for your in depth answers to my query. There are only a limited number of people cursed/blessed with the degree of obsession to go after the microscopic detail that a few crave. I suppose Rennlist is a more likely place than most to possibly run across such help, but nevertheless, I'm extremely grateful to you.
It's Sunday, noon and my SA did not return my call from 4:00 PM PST yesterday, a voice mail when the receptionist transferred me to his voice mail because he was "with a customer." I called him back on his cell, and left a detailed message at about 4:30 yesterday.
Your experience with your SA establishes that the technology is there to be exploited, even though the will is dependent upon the level of empathy, activity, motivation of the SA. Your SA should be the prototype for the job description, but that's asking a lot from our species. We ask for design inspiration, execution, competence, hope for affordability, but trying to get empathy out of the automobile industry is trying to squeeze blood out of a turnip. Your SA deserves to know that someone out there appreciates his approach to his work.

I spoke with my SA Friday and he said the allocations that came to them last week didn't include any "special" cars. He said it was mostly Macans, Cayennes, the boring stuff.
I was able to get my wife a Boxster allocation on Friday from a different large dealer. I was told there it was the only 718 they were given during this round of allocations.
