Good Afternoon. I am brand new to this Board and I am learning. I had a 1985 911 that I didn't like very much and sold it in 1990. Hard to shift, bad A/C, bad brakes......... In any event, I am not getting any younger so I decided to try again and went to my local Porsche dealer because I want to order a Targa 4. Played with the Configurator and had an idea of options and color. Still can't decide color but that is another issue that I am sure many have.
But my question is the process that many of you appear to well understand. The dealer took a copy of my driver's license and said he is "waiting for an allocation". He claimed that "putting me on the list" would help the dealership get an allocation. Once they do get an allocation I could then place an order. Thereafter it would take 6-9 months for my car to arrive. I know you are all familiar with this process having lived it. But, was what I was told correct? Is this the process to order a car? Lastly, given the delay I would rather have an early 2023 than a late model year 2022--but perhaps beggars (amazing that someone who wants a $150,000 car is a beggar) can't be choosers.
I think it's pretty likely it's going to be a 2023 model. Allocations for 2023 will be here in April. Unless Porsche releases some Targa allocations soon, you won't see anything for a while. Most dealers are quoting 9 - 12 months for a couple, 18 - 24 months for a Targa. That's from interest to allocation to order to delivery. As far as you being on a list to help the dealer get an allocation, I've never heard that before.
Anybody else have their car backed up at the San Diego port? Cygnus Leader dropped off the car last week 1/6/12, was released for transport 1/7/12 and still nothing at the dealership today. SA said he was hoping today but nothing.... This last bit as been the worst part haha.. hopefully soon!

I just called my SA at Circle Porsche. He told me that they already received 3 911s from the San Diego port and are expecting another 3 tonight. Hopefully soon.
Production pic in hand. Anybody know when the decals are applied? Missing the Motorsports stripe on hood, roof, and deck. Also GTS door decal not applied.
Also, will Porsche notify which boat it loads on, or do I figure it out myself?

Can’t help with the decal question, but TYD should tell you to what ship your vehicle is assigned a few days before it is loaded.
992 S cab with manual order placed. Third on the list at the dealership for a S cab!
Hopefully will have the car sometime later this year.
This will be my third 911. Currently in a 2017 991.2 cab with a manual. Super excited for the upgrade.

Looks like some progress for cars to So Cal and NorCal on the Crystal Ray - after a few days on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal she's moving through the locks to the Pacific side. One step closer.
