Thanks for the write up. My car has been sitting in Houston for over a month waiting for my delivery slot to open up at PEC LA. It's supposed to be shipped soon for arrival in early January, and I'm scheduled to take delivery on 1/20 (afternoon session). I'm hoping the next 4 weeks go by quickly, but I think they're going to be the slowest 4 weeks of my life. Reading the description of your thoroughly enjoyable day just slowed things down even more. Enjoy the holidays in your fantastic new car.
Best wishes for your delivery slot at PEC. Was just out there and picked up a 992 and they indicated that they were VERY backed up…Hope yours delivers soon. It is worth the wait. Charles Turner and his team do an outstanding job.
Maritime tracker is now the only reliable site until your dealer calls to say it’s here. TYD has no clue on truck/driver availability so date is extended as a precaution.
My last post on my favorite thread in the 992 forum. It all began here!
Yesterday, I took delivery of my 2022 Targa 4 at Porsche Experience Center -- Los Angeles. Family and friends were there for the whole event, from unveiling to all of us in a 911 on the road course, to an amazing lunch at 917. I was dreaming of this day for months. The reality was more than I ever imagined. I've attached some photos of the day. I'm lucky to live close to PEC. For anyone who hasn't done this, it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Here's a brief rundown:
We arrived at 8:30. The weather was cool (for SoCal), partly cloudy, and dry.
At the entry, we were greeted with our delivery team. This comprised of 3 people who were with us the entire time.
We got our lanyards, followed by a tour of the facility. The vehicles on display in the museum were described in detail, with rich history.
Next to the museum is a racing garage. It's as clean as a pharmaceutical lab. All types of race cars were in there, along with PEC cars and delivery cars
We then went into the delivery showroom. There was a large screen TV with the names of all the guests, and a photo of my Targa 4.
On the table were silver/black M & M's (my Targa 4 is Dolomite Silver, with a Sport-tex interior), a star for the delivery board, with our signatures on it, and lots of other swag.
There was coffee and French bakery goods for all.
The Targa 4 was illuminated by overhead lights, and covered in a black Porsche cover. The parking lights were on, illuminating the red rear light.
After more discussion of history of the 911 and the Targa, I stood next to my car as they took off the cover. What a glorious sight!!
We then did a thorough (and I mean thorough) introduction to the car, including complete vehicle set-up. The only thing that was left was programming the home-link button (which was quickly done at home).
During the entire event, they were taking high-quality photos with a dedicated SLR camera.
At 9:50, we left the delivery showroom, and made our way to the driving area. Each of us was assigned our own personal driver, in a car in front of us, with radio communication.
We each did a 90-minute Porsche driving experience. I was in a 911 4s. The two others were in a 911s. The driving experience was really something. You learn all types of driving dynamics, and the specific things a 911 does to assist you in a variety of situations. It was fun and hard and educational.
We did laugh control a few times, including on the long straightaway that leads to the famous re-make of the Nurburgring steep turn.
After the driving experience, our whole party was comped for a fantastic meal at 917. Our hosts came over and chatted with us several times during our meal.
After lunch, we went back to the museum and the front of the location. Out front was a Le Man's type race car facing the front doors, on a wide walkway. My Targa 4 was parked at it's rear, facing the opposite direction. PEC was packed yesterday, and there were lots of looks at both cars.
We said our goodbyes, and I drove the Targa 4 home, my son in the passenger seat. It was a fairly quick drive, but oh so enjoyable!!
Just an amazing day!!
What a beautiful car and a great experience. The team there did a great job for us as well
Hi all - I have a lava orange c2 cab build on order sitting in the endless waiting period. Told by SA should get allocation in Jan but who knows. Bigger question I have right now is on color - is LO too much for a car that I will use as my relatively daily driver??? See very few LO cars out there that aren’t gt3 or turbos
pics of the build attached.
LO w black / Mohave interior
Just put down $10k for the allocation for a May Allocation, says taking delivery in July sometime. This is for a C2. I'm thinking Gentian Blue and maybe the beige/black interior? I am dying playing with the configurator. I know I'm getting premium/sport exhaust/sport chrono/FAL and then I'm kind of lost on what else is a 'must have'. This is my first Porsche of any kind!
Merry Christmas, everyone! I got a call with an early Christmas present a couple days ago. Allocation for C2S with late May delivery date. This will be a long 5 months.
