I have only placed the "order request" or as my SA wrote to me an "order demand". I understand that this doesn't mean I have submitted an order and that I am currently waiting for allocation, which would move my vehicle to V200 status. I was at my dealership yesterday and I asked about my order status and my SA mentioned that they do not have any allocation and they so not know when they will get more. My question is, has anyone else experienced a 6+ month wait for allocation? It feels like a long wait given that I started the process back in April.

Thanks again in advance.

Call other dealers. Seems like this SA could care less whether you get an allocation or not

We ordered our car in June for European Delivery on September 10. We got back Sunday from our aborted European Delivery Experience. We were notified a week ahead that the car wouldn't be ready on the scheduled date. So, we took the trip anyway because we had plane tickets, hotels etc. booked. We used a rented Audi A5 Quattro Sportback, S Line, which turned out to be actually pretty awesome. We did 3,500 kilometers across Germany, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg and Belgium. COVID restrictions weren't really a problem. Just showed the VAX card and it got us in. No factory tour because of COVID but we did get a personal guided tour of the Porsche Museum.

Just received word today that we'll be taking delivery in Atlanta on October 14! Actually about a week earlier than if we had taken delivery in Europe, then waited for shipment.
We're going to do a barbecue tour through the Carolinas, Maryland etc. and back to Boston.
Wow. Four months for a car. Probably the first time and last in my life.

I had a dealer offer to do this to me. Basically said "Porsche will see that and probably give me an allocation". I'm glad I didn't go with that dealer cause something tells me I would have been in the same boat. I do think that the 911 C4 is one of the most rare builds out there from what I remember reading - and it is possible that they have not received an allocation for that. But/and I agree, I think your Salesperson could at least be fighting on your behalf.

If a dealer gets an allocation it is for a model and trim. You want a car like a C4 and he has a C2S. For him to get you the C4, he has to find a dealer with a C4 allocation who will trade it with him. And with waiting lists and allocations scarce, that isn't as easy as it used to be for dealers. He also has to have a spare allocation to trade. Likely he has a waiting list for C2S spots. So he has to wait for Porsche to give him a C4 allocation. You're not just waiting for a 992. You're waiting for your dealer to get an allocation for your trim.

^^^
With the exception of Halo cars (GT3, etc) they can usually turn order demands into allocations in normal times. That is my understanding anyway.

[QUOTE=JDMP87;17693632]Thanks everyone for the insights, much appreciated.

If you must have AWD, I would suggest you change your request (or customer demand) to a 4S out of a Base C4. You will improve your chances IMO. C4 is a very specific request and in current context most likely an allocation for that trim is not going to be available for a long while. Good luck!

It's been awhile since I've posted on this thread and I'll be honest I was hoping to post again with "I finally got allocation...etc" but that isn't the case. After seeing so many people posting about ordering a car in May-July and getting allocation I thought I would see if anyone has insights as to what is going on with my order.

So I placed my order at the beginning of April and received my "order demand #" at the same time. Note this doesn't mean much just my name, model (911 C4) and specs. Since then I have put my deposit down and have been waiting patiently for updates. Initially the expectation was allocation would take 3-4 months with an expected delivery of November/December, which was longer than expected but I was in no rush. Flash forward to this past week and I'm picking up my car from a service and I see my SA at the dealership and ask how it's going. Again he says there is no allocation and that he isn't sure when we will see anything.

At this point I'm frustrated and I'm curious if anyone else has experienced a similar wait? I'm in western Canada, a smaller market, so we might be given a lower priority but I'm not sure waiting 6+ months for allocation is considered standard even with delays?

Build code for reference: http://www.porsche-code.com/PNIHF759
I too am in the same boat. Placed a 10k deposit back on Jan 30th for a C4S... STILL waiting to hear back for an allocation even though I was first on the list for a C4S. Dealer told me not a lot of dealers around here ( SF BayArea ) are getting C4S allocation, which seems to corroborate what I've been seeing as far as local vehicles available around at other deodars when checking online. It's frustrating seeing others post their confirmed allocations and now vehicle arrivals when they ordered AFTER me... Apparently some money is better then others to Porsche.

Looks like Glovis Sun might already left Emden, in route to Santa Maria, Columbia.

I hope my 992, along with those 992s with end of Oct 2021 delivery dates on the west coast all made it aboard the Glovis Sun.
Cheers!

I asked my guys 3 times, is this a real allocation. He said yes, and then sent me THREE different forms to sign on the bottom, one being a credit card slip, the other being a window sticker looking piece of paper and the final being a personalized quote (trade in summary and financial overview on the left side). He asked for 5K, i said can i please give you 2500 and he said fine. I sent the forms and i was done. Why are people giving money to "show Porsche your interest". ?

I put a $10K deposit down, but it worked.
