Will a centerlock version and a 5 lug version of the same wheel sit exactly the same? For example, will a HRE P101 in centerlock and a HRE P101 in 5 lug, both 20x8.5 ET45 sit exactly the same (inward and outward) if mounted on the same car?

Identical width/offset wheels should fit the same. Offset refers to offset from center line of the wheel to the mounting surface of the hub.

Comparison between lug and CL wheels is academic. You don’t really pick and choose. But offset measurement should be the same between different designs regardless.

Yes to both your questions. Offset is calculated from the center of the rim. +50 offset means the face of the hub that attaches to the car is exactly 50mm further out from the center line of the rim. Zero offset means the hub sits exactly equal to the centerline of the rim and negative offsets like -10 means the hub is 10mm inward from the centerline of the rim. So a 21x12 +50 rim from HRE, BBS, BC Forged, OZ or whoever will sit exactly the same. Also, a rim with a lower number positive offset results in a rim with a deeper lip or a more concave profile.

Same goes for center lock rims vs 5 lug rims but, of course, 5 lug rims and center locks are not interchangeable and a GT3’s hub is not the same as a Carrera’s hub. I believe a GT3 hub sits a few mm more inboard which allows more aggressive offsets. That’s why when people run GT3 rims on a Carrera the rim pokes out a bit.

Thanks for the explanation, guys! The saga continues for the search of the perfect offsets. @rk-d Do you have pics of your setup you'd like to share? Was searching and saw your specs on a thread on the TTS forum. I'm assuming Carrera and TTS fitments will look the same.

No prob.

Sold that car, but I posted pics on the TTS forum.

Offsets between TTS and Carrera S are not translatable - TTS is wider and chassis is not the same. Identical offsets will look different between the cars, not to mention to visual effect of lowered suspension.

Oh snap. Thanks. That could've potentially saved a huge mistake.

These look really good. Can you PM me price for a set for my 2021 Carrera S? If possible I’d like high polished barrel and face (clear coated). Thanks.

I made the move a few months ago and worked with David from @WheelsB and ordered a set of HRE 305M for the 992 S. I can't say enough good things about his work ethic and customer service, not to mention the rest of the team at WB that helped as the order, payments and shipping occurred. Such a great and easy process. The size? 20/21. The offset? Lets call it WB spec. I went to bed thinking I don't need to lower it, now I think I need to get it down to GT3 spec. Here's a few photos while I wait for this thunderstorm to pass.
