$55K CAD. Not painted. Beyond crazy. Less than $1000 in materials to make.
I make components from carbon pre-preg and those are my small shop material costs, so Porsche would be paying considerably less.
Process time - 2 pieces in autoclave about 4 hours. Trim via CNC cutter. Place in assembly fixture, bond in hardware. 1 hr. Bond hood halves together, 1 hr. Crate and process, 1hr. Easily done in an 8 hr shift. Plus paint and plastic wind deflectors.
Quality control on these is extremely poor.
Below is a recent delivery with finger prints in the clear in 2 locations, each with 4 fingers. Some lame worker handled them before clear coat without gloves and the surface wasn't prepped properly.
More of a reason to not get the exposed carbon hood. Looks so much better painted.

had the same with my Spyder RS Weissach, exchanged the hood a few days later. Also not possible to keep the "old" one
My guys says the cost of my replacement hood is $80,000 in the system. He asked management if I could have the defective one to hang in my garage. You can guess the response.
I'm confused, who is actually paying the $80,000? You're not, the dealership is not (warranty), and there's no way in hell the hood costs PAG $80k
Having spoken to and worked with several GMs and dealer principals, all of them would rather work with a broker than some guy off the street looking for an allocation.
No one really has time for tire kickers, and brokers are anything but.
if true, which i doubt, really speaks to how awful some porsche dealers have gotten. porsche's business model is long term customer ownership ... multiple cars over many years. to do that you need to have someone to work with, which is where the dealers comes in. but if you say a these dealers would rather work with the broker its a one and done job. it makes no sense.
each client is different and that is where good dealers come in. they know your passions, what you want, what you have had, where you want to go. do you think a broker gives a **** about you aside from paying him a commission. the term tire kicker is naive and shows your lack of understanding. tire kickers become clients. i was once a tire kicker and now i have purchased six different porsches ... and i probably have another six to go.
again, ive said it before and ill say it again, porsche needs to go to straight to consumer model. AI can pick up on what the client needs in the future and i bet would do a better and be more consistent then some of these SA brand ambassadors. not all dealer and SA, but a large majority here in the states. they are great dealers out there i have worked with ... but most are a total disaster.
porsche is not the only company with issues, i tried to go and order a new ferrari and they wouldn't give me a slot for anything but a roma. and i went in with a well known big ferrari buyer ... made no difference.
Any consolation to no recent allocations as delays seem to be the rule not the exception. So even if you did get an allocation, it may be 10-12 months before you see it.
My PTS Oslo, allocated in July, supposed to be built in Nov/Dec, finally departed Emden today.
Apparently those side veins have rudder capability! RS floats!
Just got offered a changeable slot from a Cali store of mine, 110k over MSRP total.
That's a great deal Ben!
The good news for those looking.... the progress is moving along and my PTS 3RS finally finished. Hoping for speedy builds for the others backlogged. Build originally started 1/30.
@Jamie140
I had a similar issue. They ordered hood and sent it out to paint. See how it comes from the factory below. After I put PPF on mine it’s super hard to see the small issue. Not like the fingers you had.
