It's because of the short gearing

In which Porsche will sell every last one and most will trade for well over MSRP. Just another underwhelming launch that will make the company a few bucks but what do they know they probably should have consulted with RL first so they won’t duplicate this mistake again.

I have had enough manuals in my life. City Traffic is too frustrating now. I would have liked a PDK S/T.
Allocation is tricky. But the more i looked into it, the less interesting it became.
The rear end is pretty much identical to a touring.
So all you get externally, are front guards and mag wheels.
I could care less about a badge.
So perhaps i could order a touring, with S/T front guards and an RS motor? There is my perfect Porsche right there.
An understated RS.
An S/T is $700K AUD here. So probably still save $50-$100k doing the touring.
Is the RS motor a lot different to GT3?

Thanks for reaffirming my point.
If people realize their was a $200k profit min. per ST would they still be excited?
Please tell me, what bespoke technology, R&D, or "special design" that actually makes a care valuable and unique was applied to the ST....?
I'll wait 🍿 🍿 🍿

The ST being it has essentially no Aero frankly should be limited to that 186 due to lack of downforce on a light car. Essentially Miata territory. Yet I'm sure that's all electronically limited.

Correct... Porsche is branding it special for the monetary gains, not because its actually a special car.

Never said it did but last I checked businesses are in business to make money. They will make plenty of ROI (that’s return on investment for you) on this non bespoke car. Not sure why a car has to have all the things you WANT to be successful. Didn’t fit your wants but far be it that Porsche made a mistake here with their as you call it “underwhelming” car. Clearly the majority (you are not that) find it very over whelming enough to be getting in line to pay well over MSRP for it.
The window lickers and pedigree flyers want the ST to fill a void of relevance to chase the exclusive and unobtanium.
It's just sad to see Porsche have to head this dramatic direction with the 992.

No. People get in line to feel special for something they wont get. I was offered a Dakar. I said yes because it the perfect redneck porsche. Had I also been offered an ST.... no. It's just not special. Actual car people (also the minority) see through the BS bag of parts the ST is.

If a care warrants being special such as a Dakar or Sport Classic by all means. They're truly unique with homages paid to specific cars before their time just with modern flares and touches.
The Porsche cult will always be what it is. Guys that like to collect cars for the sake of the "rarity" of the car. Then a truly earth shattering car comes around like the 918 and it's shunned to the point they had to essentially bribe sharks to bite in order to sell the cars. Meanwhile it truly was an epic car ahead of it's time.... just as the Viper was just to a different audience. Now Porsche fears a backlash on boldness away from the 911 platform and they put forth the Vision X which is just God awful rip off of a Cadillac Lemans car except all EV.
Let's be real.... Porsche is currently in a rebranding phase trying to reestablish its target market and the "lists" will be going away 100% soon amd then the real **** will hit the fan when the "VIPs" just become another name on the list.
Sorry it's just is what it is.

Not a lot different, but different in interesting ways (has more aggressive camshaft profiles for a better flourish of power near redline and has better oiling to better resist the high g-forces of the RS). 15hp more than GT3 and actually slightly less torque. Since the RS motor is better near redline, the lower gearing of the S/T is a perfect match.

Speaking of the Dakar, saw this today.
