Here's the problem: California doesn't use J2805. Vehicle noise testing is performed by the California Highway Patrol, as defined by California Code of Regulations Title 13, Section 1046. That regulation specifies SAE J1470 (published in 1984) as the official testing procedure. So while Porsche assumedly engineered the GT3 to pass the updated J2805 test with both available transmissions, in California, the old method is still the law of the land.

as someone else stated the way the manual is tested, the rpm is pushed at much higher rpms than an automatic, which the way gt3 engines roar up at top violates the 95 or so decibels allowed.

Right, let’s move to Michigan where you can only drive 3 months out of the year and freeze your *** the other 9 months.

Thank you mods for combining all the California manual threads. Now I only have one thread that I need to ignore instead of multiple.

As a resident of the Green Bay area for 30 years I typically don't park any of the fun cars until Thanksgiving (one year Christmas eve) and they are typically out by March. That's a whopping 3-4 months of downtime which I need to fix things anyway.

Other perks of living here:
1. All the fresh water I can waste
2. Never had a blackout (currently paying $0.11118 per KWH)
3. Zero emission testing
4. One time registration fee of $150 for classic cars (zero fees after that for as long as you own the car)
5. Road America is 45 minutes away
6. Want to compare the quality of pump gas?
7. I get thumbs up from local police when they hear the open exhaust from my 928 track car, which I actually use to run errands now and then. Why? Because I can.

My God, this is worse than a playground argument about who's dad can beat up who's dad.

Can we please stop with the anti / pro California nonsense? I've gone through the trouble of moving 74 posts to a new thread for the political side of the discussion. Such conversations are fine, please keep it in the area designated for such chatter:

Just keep the comments above the belt. Talking about politics doesn't change that.

So you complain about the anti/pro California nonsense and in the process complain about California vs Greenbay. How does that hypocrisy work?

My post was pro-Wisconsin, I said nothing of California "just the facts ma'am"

Again, back to my playground comment. I cannot believe how many grown adults, most of which I suspect are quite successful in life, are capable of such ridiculous tit-for-tat arguments like this. "My state is better than your state" - grow up.

This is a GT3 forum, discuss things specific to the GT3 please - I'm asking nicely. This really isn't a request though.

Or, just about any Japanese bike with a Yoshimura exhaust...
