It’s pretty hilarious that an epic business fail is being turned into a blame-California rant. The regs haven’t changed in 25 years. Porsche knew what they needed to do. No surprises. It’s louder than the 991. Somebody decided instead of matching the regs that haven’t changed in decades they’d “just wing it” the test procedure is getting updated anyway. Anybody who conducts business expecting government regulations to change on their schedule doesn’t care about their business very much.

This is amateur hour ****. Fortune 100 businesses do not roll this way. I’m not sure I even believe Porsche didn’t know what test regulations were required. For their marquee product launch ? Yeah. Either a bunch of people are getting fired, or the whole press release is a work of fiction.

Can't take credit:

"According to prop 65, manual transmissions are known to the state of California to cause cancer or birth defects".

Sarcasm of course but when you think of all the woke ****e we've all seen and heard, I wouldn't be surprised.

Miss the news where they're banning gasoline powered cars?

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY everyone!

Hey, why are will still bickering about CA, and not talking more about how the new manual 992 GT3 sounds better (louder) than the outgoing 991 GT3??

LOL - if its such a big business "fail" why are they being offered elsewhere with dealer ADM.

The irony of someone living in the California "bubble" wailing about the Porsche they can't have is delicious. You'd better get on Twitter and start #cancelporschebecauseIcan'thavea992GT3manualandIreallyreallyreallywanton eandifIdon'tgetoneI'llspitmyfirstworlddummyoutofmycot. I don't think you'll collect many "give a ****s"

If the Californian regs are the problem - why the hell should the rest of the US or for that matter the ROW have some sort of neutered product.

You are conveniently forgetting that partlcle filters which neuter the sound of the 992.1 GT3 engine are mandated by the EU, and Porsche complies fully.
And then puts dummy baffles (for back pressure) in ROW products which affect/compromise engine tone.

Porsche is 100% responsible for the problem with exceeding drive by noise limits in California, as measured by current regulation.

Finally someone that gets it. It's not Porsches "fault." It's California's problem. Looks like the rest of the world DIDN'T get a cold when California sneezed.

I really hope that Porsche and other companies pull through with their synthetic fuel project, jay for this reason alone. Then they'll come up with something else unfortunately.

The level of willfully blind comments which ignore facts in this thread smacks of the worst politically motivated partisanship... a real pity.

Moving on...

Referring to the synthetic gasoline, it's not a panacea, Porsche estimates it could only make about a day's worth for the world right now, it's more of an experiment for them not a reality (unfortunately).

https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesmo...hey-could/amp/

"Porsche's Chile plant is going to supply scarcely 0.1% of what the US alone would require even by 2026. This is not the only company ramping up e-fuel production, but it is clearly a low-volume product aimed at specialist products like the Gt3.

The transition to synthetic fuel is not expected to be overnight, though. The efuel Alliance sees gradually increasing synthetic admixture to conventional fossil fuels rather than an immediate swap. This would alleviate the slow initial supply, but the expectation is for just 4% admixture by 2025, 12% by 2030, and only 100% by 2050. That is just too late to solve the current climate crisis"

I mean how the hell do Lamborghini Huracans and Ferraris pass this reg?? I guess because they are dual clutch gearboxes.

they don’t sell manuals anymore. The test is dumb. It also hasn’t changed in decades. That Porsche is surprised by this is difficult to believe

You're assuming Porsche was surprised by it. Maybe they made a conscious decision to make the car what it deserves to be regardless of what Kalifornia thinks.

Car & Driver put out an article a few days ago explaining why the 992 GT3 6MT cannot be sold in CA

RL’ers literally cannot read. Just headlines and then jump to conclusions, and then argue.
