I look at it this way- the MAX you could possibly go is the opposite of the biggest discount on a new car you've ever received, on a 911 (non-base Carrera). For me it was 10% off on my current 991.2 TTS. Therefore 10% markup on a GT3 should be my max...i.e. $20k ADM. Beyond that is ridiculous, but I really refuse to pay the $20k anyway.

you may refuse but cars are selling well above 20k adm. Look at all the auctions on BAT. Bids have hit almost 300k on some of these.

It'll take a little time before we exhaust the supply of desperate buyers, the first ones are suckers that always pay the most.

Oh I don’t disagree. I’m not one to overpay but there are plenty of people that will.

Ive said it before, I’ll say it again. Be patient. Be proactive, you will find a car that fits your budget abs soec eventually.

We also gotta face the fact that we have massive inflation going on. My house has likely doubled or more in the past 3 years. Some people are selling out and have cash to throw at what they want. It will settle out at some point, but your chance to spec your own GT3 build may be long gone by then.

If anything, the ADMs are higher now than ever.

There will be other models, other cars. There always is.

We'll see what happens if the Fed gets frisky with pulling back the punch bowl. Interest rates for homes are already about 1/2% higher than a few weeks ago and probably heading higher. Not saying that home prices will go down but rates going up will take some steam out of the market.

I would tend to agree with you.
Get ready to cue the classic line of "if they have the money, more power to them."

My take on the touring ADM:
  • I had a 991.2 touring. I loved the model but disliked the particular example I acquired used. Sold it
  • Decided I missed the model and wanted another but it had to meet my standards given the prior car
  • Watched the market for used tourings climb and climb thinking that they would have to come down
  • Figured maybe they'd come down when 992 deliveries start (still possible but questionable)
  • Was offered a touring twice (two different dealers) with ADM. In each case (particularly the 2nd) the combined price of MSRP and ADM was at or well below 991.2 used prices
Net/net - I want a touring and I'd rather pay an ADM to get a brand new car, my spec and have that cost less than a used car. I can't see the issue in this logic other than the possibility that the 991.2 prices drop significantly and I could have gone that route. The ADM was so minimal (IMHO) that I decided not to screw around with it any more

It's one thing to pay an ADM of 10-20% of the car price and it's a whole other thing when it's 50%+ of the car price.

For sure. And if I'd had to pay more than 10-20% I would have opted to keep hunting for a used 991.2. It was simple math for me - new vs. used, newer model and refreshed warranty. I could have accomplished several of those with 991.2 CPO which I'm sure I would love. But it worked nicely for me given the low ADM.

I was offered a Winged slot for $75k...summer delivery. It is pricey, but I thought to share it. Nothing in this one for me, if you PM, I'll connect you with the SA. Dealer is in CA, so I think they only want CA clients.

See what I mean? Allocations are dripping, but they're dripping for ridiculous ADM.

Used car unit sales and prices are down MoM. Used car inventories are up. Be patient if you have not purchased already.
