Have you guys with Xpel had issues with dirt and grime building up on the edges? This has been a problem for me in the past with that film. Especially on the corners. Over time, dirt can lift the edge. I would have to carefully clean the edges to prevent this from happening. It was a pain in the butt.
I believe with wrapped edges, an installer can apply a little extra adhesive to tack it down. Any exposed edge seems to be susceptible, otherwise.

After about 5 years, paint protection film becomes increasingly difficult to remove. I've been doing PPF for over 17 years so I know first hand what can happen. Instead of coming off it big pieces, the film tears into tiny bits and at that point it has to be scraped off with a plastic razor blade or ground off with an eraser wheel. We tell customers to come in sometime around the five year mark and remove a mirror. If it comes off clean we replace it and tell them to come back next year when we pull the other mirror. If it starts tearing we suggest its time to replace the rest of the film.
Also over time it loses its ability to deflect impacts as the film ages. You wouldn't expect five or ten year old tires to work as well as new ones.

A warranty covers you against manufacturer defects and obviously the installer is accountable for labor/craftsmanship issues. Manufacturer defects would be top coat/adhesive problems, cracking and discoloration.
But here's the thing. All film will age over time. What is not covered is normal wear and tear/exposure.
This bell curve image I created is based upon my opinion. A warranty does not mean film will "last 10 years". It means the manufacturer is accountable for defects for 10 years. What accelerates wear and tear? The care and exposure as outlined here. In short, and just like pretty much everything else in life, the better care you take of your film the longer it will last and look great.
