I just checked my car. Looks normal. Looks like the lower portion has more texture probably for durability.

No and no. I had xpel on my M5 for 4 years and it is still perfect. Regardless of the product, the installer is key. Even if there is a long wait queue for an appointment or price, I would wait for a reputable shop than rushing to protect your car.

The road has dirt and grime and pebbles too.

My rockers are pristine, no plastic to be found. How on earth did we survive before film?

If you drive on the highways, I can't believe you can keep the rockers and rear quarters clean. My car already had a few tiny pits because of 6000 miles without PPF. Do you have a C4S?

This is like when some state no lag on the #2 cars.... they don't know what they talking about.

My most meticulous friend has a white cayman. His home is prestine(no kids) and everything he owns is taken care of with a profound level of OCD. His paint is awful on his car... drive through washes and that's it. The car is clean and he doesn't see the scratches and swirls... cause he doesn't know what to look for. I envy people that are ignorant to these things and at times wish I could go back.

There is no way a normally driven 911 will not have road rash on the rear quarters without protection. If someone testified as as such they are uninformed or lying.

I'll be happy to shoot some pictures of my perfectly clean rockers and rear quarters when I take the cover off my car this week.

Again, not that I'd care about a few nicks on a car anyway, it just hasn't been a problem at all in the first 10k miles of the car. Other than two small nicks on the front bumper, the car is pristine. Dirt and grime wipe right off a properly coated or waxed car.

Did you use a PPF protectant (or a PPF safe wax) right away? If not the UV from the Sun will ruin the film pretty fast.

Default PPF shelf life

I read that if the PPF remains on the vehicle to long removal and replacement can be much more difficult. Anyone have an idea how often it should be changed/replaced? Is the PPF removal a costly process?
Saw a partial front end done on a Lexus and boy did that look horrible....beat to hell and unsightly.

I also saw the remains of a Lexus SUV in which the PPF was removed, but in this case, while the engine was still warm!! Not a good scene. Needless to say when the PPF was removed so was the paint underneath it.

My PPF has a 10 year warranty .....I guess I will evaluate at about the 7 year mark. I wonder is it the adhesive left in place for many years that can make removal of the PPF so challenging in some cases?

mine was done 2.5 years ago when new and I'm glad it was. The film takes a beating, but the paint is brand new underneath...

I peeled it off of my wife's 5 year old Z4 because it was dulling and there were no peeling paint problems. Just a little glue residue, which was easily removed with mineral spirits. Also peeled it off my 370z after a wreck with no issues.

What did you use to soften the adhesive?
