HOT FOR SALE: Pick of the Week 991
Hi guys,
Need your help to decide which car to get. This is going to be my 1st 911. Looking at two beautiful cars basically the same color with similar packages. I am sure I would be very happy with either. It is not going to be a garage queen as I plan to drive it as much as possible. Except that I don't plan to use it in the snow.
Which one would you get? I would love to talk on the phone (here is my cell 908-917-8070) to some of the long term 911 owners (i.e., experts/addicts/veterans) to discuss in more details why you recommend either car.
Thank you in advance,
Guido

At least that would be my preference. You found a really low mileage 2014. I bought one with similar mileage for less from a private party.
I personally am very happy with the 400hp naturally aspirate engine. I do not care for the turbo engine in the 2017. The noise alone is very strange. Reminds me of a Subaru STI, when the turbo's start spinning up.
The interior of the 2017 is a bit re-designed. The PCM has Apple Car connectivity and fewer buttons, which makes it a bit less cluttered.
Either one would probably be a fine choice at the end of the day. We are talking about minor differences.

There are at least half a dozen links to this car in this thread... I posted it up again a week or so ago when it arrived in LA. Now it's somewhere else, became available again, went under reservation again, and will be shipped off to yet another carmax for a potential buyer to reject.
Once under reservation, they are no longer 'searchable', but the links still work.

Not 'low option' at all... $130K build price with some expensive options like full natural leather, 18-way seats, PDCC/SPASM, etc, but I don't think your missing out on this car. From the history on this thread alone, at least a half a dozen buyers have reserved that car, shipped it to their local CarMax location, then rejected it.
More red flags than at the running of the bulls...

All that aside, the 2014 C2 seems overpriced at $91K, though hard to say without more details. Vins would tell us everything we need. For that reason alone, I'd lean towards the 2017 even though this is a 991.1 centric thread.

If your close to Roseville CA location and could check it out without paying a shipping fee, reserve it and take a look. But paying a shipping fee to take a look is likely a bad bet.

Any comments on the price of the 2014 911 S MT. Is $90K a reasonable price for a CPO originally priced at $120K new? Originally Posted by mansito View Post

2014 is very low mileage but still seems priced high to me... It's a nice build with good colors, manual transmission, full leather, but no 18-ways, no sport exhaust, no spasm, etc.. Not really any different from a 2012.5 you might find with a few more miles at $70-$75K. Not a particularly special car, not a 4S, not a GTS, not a ducktail or aero car. Not trying to be negative about the car, just evaluating it from a pricing perspective. All Porsche's are 'special' in their own way! ;-)
The 2017 is, for good or bad, the first year for a new (half) generation, and historically they end up worth a bigger than average 'one year newer' price bump then most years... Eg: 2009 997.2 commands a fairly big premium over 2008 997.1, much more of a bump than a 2008 has over a 2007.
Value aside, have you driven both? Do you really like the refinements and engine differences on the new turbo .2's? Do you prefer the slightly more analog feel and traditional exhaust note of the .1? Did you feel the .2 base had plenty of power for your wants and needs? Which car is a better deal is irrelevant if it isn't the car you prefer to drive.

Comparing the two, they both have Premium Plus, no performance options other than the manual. The 991.1 S has PASM included. The gearbox in the 991.2 is a little nicer and they can be chipped to get more power than a 991.1 S. Though the power delivery and sound are different.

^^^ I would think this is a question for the main board. I have no experience with 991.2. Regarding the 991.1, it is not a HFS unless you are keen on an extremely low miles car. Even so, you still have to check whether maintenance has been performed according to years

Popped up on my search yesterday. Miles are higher than we are used to seeing, but not crazy, and to me not at all a deterrent for those of us looking for a daily. If I was ready to pull the trigger, this would be a hard one to pass up.
