Very amusing to watch the constant news admonition not to look at the eclipse without protection, followed by the next news story about how getting a pair of glasses at this point is harder than finding a low mile manual 991 selling for less than it did a year ago.

Kids planned in advance with glasses. Yeah, should have bought a few hundred and sold for $8 more than what they were bought for.

Doing it for the kids and wife. Have to take one for the team once in a while

I hear 991.1 glass roofs might be eclipse-viewing-compliant... One could drive some twisties up to a nice mountain top, lean the seats back all the way, and enjoy the eclipse through your glass sunroof?

I really don't have a problem with flippers, per se, but trying to flip a car you don't own and have never seen, especially after posting it car up on HFS? That's just isn't in the spirt of the community that supports this thread.

But I'm probably mistaken, and that isn't the case at all.

[update: evidently I am not mistaken... This is *exactly* what he is trying to do...]

Had to hack my auto-darkening welding helmet today to darken on command... All instead of a pair of $2 glasses to watch a 2 minute event.

Feeling the no-paddle blues?

Suncoast has this tasty 991.1 Alcantara paddle shift sport design wheel for $1,100.

I am currently a serious buyer for something in this class/category but that sounds pricey.
Sent you a PM about a car in which you might be interested, but haven't heard back. Send me your email address and I'll send info. (Haven't been able to figure out how to attach photos/PDFs to PMs.)

I heard that there was a 15 mile back up on Route 26 LAST THURSDAY from people trying to get into position for Monday's eclipse.

Unreal.

Unreal.
What state is that? Rt 26 means nothing to most Rennlisters. Your profile also says nothing, and needs updating...

I'd imagine that was Oregon, near Prineville. Music/eclipse festival expected to draw 30k-40k to a town of normally under 10k residents. An event that likely should not have been permitted by local government, but tourist money is tourist money I suppose.
