We are in crazy land. I am seriously considering selling my C2S at the end of the summer since I should be able to make money on it.

I did a track day last week in a rental Miata "race car", so I keep thinking that C2S = tow vehicle + track car

You might not want to wait too long, I'm of course hoping that prices get more sane by the end of summer. Of course the longer I wait the bigger the car fund is but there are two issues with that:
A) do I want to contribute to the craziness.
B) the wife "approved" a certain amount for the new car...if I go over that she has SO much ammo for the upcoming home remodel that I'll end up paying for that for the next 10 years.

Thanks guys.

This is where I run into personal dilemmas looking at a base car with 18K miles and only $15K off sticker.

There is nothing wrong with base models at the right price and they're great cars.

I'd rather pay $80K-$90K for a car with a $120K++ MSRP (S/4S model) even with 18K miles or LESS.

Understand. I assume he's trying to get a newer model year for a lower price ? At $75K and a CPO he's at effectively (including the dealer CPO) $24.5K off MSRP.

As a yard stick for itsmeeeugene - the car I bought was a 1 year old CPO C2 with around 6000 miles. I purchased the car for MSRP - 21%. I did negotiate - that's not where they started.

That was the end of 2014, and the market has changed a little: The 991.1 cars have depreciated at a slower rate, the market is smaller, the car he's looking at has 'higher' miles and no CPO. The stick shift may be harder for the dealer to move. All considerations to be taken into account, and I'm no guru.

^^ Agree ... I'd be ok with $75K if I was him. Can't hurt to offer and try and get them down.

Two things that may help with negotiations:

1. Do it by email. It's easier to be dispassionate and polite. It's harder for them to 'sell'.

2. If you can find a comparative car at another dealer, use the two offers as you negotiate. Let both dealers know what the other dealer offers, if it's to your advantage. They are competitors and will compete.

I didn't invent the above. I just copied a buddy, and it works.

i found a few c2s and c4s w/ between 20k-30k miles are the 80-90k advertised price, which i am looking at trying to negotiate, however, looking at the dealer reviews from dealer rater, it seems like it might be not as easy of a time. definitely worth a shot though.

This car is CPO, not sure why it isn't listed on the build sheet, but its advertised as CPO, which the dealer did mention that they did all the necessary items to have it CPO'ed already.

i think if i can get it into the low 70's, i'd probably go for it.

Love this song and track theme video with an old familiar friend.

Forget the kind of car. I looked it up in the past. Cool boutique custom ride.
