HOT FOR SALE: Pick of the Week 991
Problem with the above $80k cars is that a lot of them are sitting there on the lots. Dealers and private sellers just getting greedy and ahead of themselves. Sweet spot for a 2012-13 S coupe with 20kish miles is around $75k for a dealer. Non S cars seem to be sitting around unless a good price. Just not seeing many above 80's cars moving for the 12-13 years.
Lots of private sale guts thinking they can get CPO numbers. My suggestion to guys selling their car private is to sell it $2k-3k above trade in, not 10k above trade in. Otherwise, most people will go with the convince and CPO of a dealer.

Regarding the post above: the spread is typically more than $10k on used vs. new. It shouldn't be, but it is. It pays to shop around; our local P-car dealer owns most of the various new car lots in town. They low-ball everyone. I got an extra $4500 for a car bought outright on my BMW by putting it on a truck for $150 and shipping it to a BMW dealer 3 hours away. It was super clean and they were willing to offer me $37k as they were going to list it for $45,900 and had trouble finding a manual 235i used at the time. Local dealer was at $32,500, some song and dance about how auction prices were super low on these cars, and that nobody wants a manual, both lies. They showed me the list, but they were pulling cars with no options, no M-sport, and 40k miles. Mine had 9,000.
So, moral of the story, if trading in, shop around! If you have a desirable build, someone will want it, and pay good money for it. A car that needs nothing and that will sell in a couple of weeks shouldn't be worth less than 85% of the sale price. On my last P-car trade, I was able to get them to 91% trade-in value. They knew it was an easy $6k to pocket, the car didn't even need to be detailed. Don't fall for the "auction price" line, as any car coming off auction likely has around $5,000 into it to be sold at the dealer; auction fees, transport, services up to date, tires. If auction for a clean 991 is say, $55k, then their lowest trade-in should be $60k. But if they want your business, can see how clean the car is straight up, and they can sell it quickly, $65k is where they need to be to earn my business. Otherwise, it goes to the high-end consignment place and I get that $65k after it sells.
The ones that are priced right ($4k above trade, sometimes higher for PTS) do sell quickly. Everyone else, not so much. That base 991 manual Guards Red on the Marketplace for $77,900? A dealer would have trouble getting that. The car I just posted is a well-optioned C2S for a couple grand more! From a dealer too.
