What do folks think here?
I think about 1% of buyers would know what a DME report is. I say you are over-thinking this one.

I don't agree with this assessment. Perhaps it would apply to a buyer that would only buy from a dealer, but selling private party I expect the majority or all buyers are aware of this. The over-rev report is mentioned in pretty much every and any buyers guide ever written about buying a modern Porsche 2nd hand, both in print and online form.

I spoke the guy, he's a retired car dealer with a long history of buying/selling P-cars. Claims he knows there are only 18 991.1 C4S for sale in the country (I know it's low, but not that low). Barely drove it so I'm thinking he bought it on speculation and now it's time to profit. Claims he's getting calls now that he lowered it below $90k.

Funny thing is I love the color combo but I think you're reflecting a wider opinion that silver-on-brown isn't going to be easy to resell in the future if I need to unload the car (which I hope to never do).

My other target is Agate on black/Platinum with more miles and fewer options but well within budget and extremely well-kept. My wife keeps telling me to wait for the perfect car but this market keeps telling me to grab what I can. Of course it figures that I can finally get my dream car in the midst of massive surge in pricing and glut in supply.
So, after agreeing to purchase this car for a fair price, and after I spent days trying to set up an inspection (and eventually settling on HIS choice of shop), and agreeing to send him a deposit once inspected, the guy selling this car decides that his word means nothing and he'd rather reneg on our deal because he got an offer for $1500 more. That's it, that's all it took to turn his head. He tried to extort another thousand out of me first, but if we had a deal I expect someone to stick to it.

His name is Ray Frappier in Albuquerque, NM. I would caution ANYONE not to trust this man in any way. He's a retired used car dealer and he's apparently not interested in changing his stripes.

I've noticed my search feed for 991's is significantly increasing in available cars over the last week or so. It looks like the word is out that you can get a lot of money for your car and the pricing reflects that thinking.
For the last few months there were only dribs and drabs but lately it's about 15 to 25 per day. Just thought I'd pass that along.. Reference is cars.com

Keep searching. Your car will come. I spent almost 2 months working on a deal in Chicago (I'm in PA) and it ended up not working out (PITA to deal with the used dealership as well - non-Porsche).

I didn't notice this until I removed my price cap. 😬

Yep, plenty of guys out there willing to sell their cars for a 40% markup over last year's prices.

The only reason I'm buying now is because I think inflation is only going one way for the next 12-24 months and this is the first time my wife has ever agreed to let me get one. Strike while the iron's hot!

Utterly perfect for me... But manual. I know, I know. But I spent 10 years rowing gears in my daily driven E36 M3 and I know for a fact I'll drive my Porsche 60% less often if I have to endure that 3rd pedal in LA traffic. It'll become a pretty, dusty showpiece 6 days a week. Otherwise I'd have already sent this guy my money.

Interesting comparison as this car sold at auction the year before with 1k less miles for 12k less than it did this month, before commission(79k vs. 67k).

I know this has sold... but can anyone confirm this was a solid buy... price look(ed) good and well appointed ... I can see Sport Plus Chrono and folding mirrors and what looks like an upgraded steering wheel and I think I spied ventilated seats. However I am new to the 991 market and therefore dont know if this was drop dead cheap... good deal or nothing to see here!

At $50k that is an absolute steal. It’s so low it makes me question why.
