HOT FOR SALE: Pick of the Week 991
Hi All:
I am new to Rennlist and close to getting my first 911. There are 2 I am negotiating on. 1 is a 2013 911 C2, black on black with 34K miles. the asking is $52K, the other is 2012 991 C2 beige on blue with 44K asking $48K. The latter has an minor accident on its carfax. What do you think of the car prices, one better than the other, or both good/bad.
Looking for advise
Thanks

Are they being sold private party or through dealers? Do you know how long they have been on the market? Might help you negotiating power if they have been sitting for a while.
You lost me. It looks like it was leased originally in NJ. Are you saying that the original owner registered it in both NJ and FL? Either way, a bit odd.
It was then sold to a new owner in FL and it looks like a second and third new owner in FL unless that owner simply refinanced two times.
Also, it was CPO in 6/30/15. CPOs last two years unless they are on top of the original warranty so the CPO would have expired a year ago.

CPO goes on top but just BC it was CPO, even if expired, its a big plus in my book. I suspect there are 2 owners: leased in NJ then owned in FL and the owner moved or something like that. run a proper carfax to get more info. Also call the delaers around Miami to try and build up a service history if its not in the glove box.
Good deal on a CPO 2014 TTS, Black on Black with 16k miles in VA, with a $193 MSRP. Listed at $122,783.

I have it coming in but I will be out of the country till the 30th. If nothing else, I get a nice little test drive and will report back. It looks like CarMax does not allow a PPI but they said they will take it back in 5 days if it doesn't pan out.

Found this on Carmax's site.

Examples from some of the Carmax Porsche's I've seen: Terrible touch-up paint, obvious body repairs even with clean carfax, curbed wheels, ridiculous amounts of paint swirling, highly worn interiors for the mileage, completely amateur-hour brake caliper paint jobs (this was on a Macan I had brought in), etc.
Now there are definitely a few folks here that have picked up cars from Carmax and had good experiences, so you might get lucky, just be sure to go over cosmetic condition very carefully...
Honestly a bit less worried about mechanical condition, as 1) 991s are pretty robust cars without lots of known issues, 2) Carmax offers a pretty good 30 day warranty (included) as well as extended warranty (optional).
I also agree that a car that was covered with CPO, even if recently expired is more desirable. On this car, a 2/13 in-service date and 2/15 CPO should equal CPO warranty through 2/19, except as voided by Carmax transaction.
There really isn't much 'service' these cars need other than "visual inspections", oil changes and maybe a few brake fluid flushes. If the brakes or tires are worn past a certain point, Carmax will replace them under their 30 day warranty if they haven't already.

I'm considering a 2014 Carrera 4S, 27k miles, original MSRP was $132,000 and they want $79,500. What do you think?

I have not looked at any of this but can say Carfax can do some wonky stuff regarding owners. Particularly when people move. Carfax shows me as the fourth owner of my Miata. I'm the third. The original owner bought it when he lived in Florida. When he moved to Virginia and registered it there Carfax listed him as the second owner. He sold it to the guy I bought it from.

It depends on if a potential buyer wants a PDK convertible. I tend to find that convertibles sit longer on the marketplace and tend to get discounted more. Maybe mid 60s is asking and low 60s/high 50s is a good deal? Hard to tell without knowing the market. Sunny climes tend to sell more convertibles. Midwest not so much.
