991 Vs 991S

Is the S version the best car? I think there will be ample argument pointing to the GT 3, Turbo, Turbo S or even the Targa. I have an S but think that the base is more than adequate. Buy what suits your needs.

Yes, the base car is plenty for most. Personally, as I said before, I'd not want to spend $80K or more on merely the base version of any car

IMO only, I think the best one in the last year was the 50th. Best value for what it costs, rare and unique. The GT3 is IMO the best heavily tracked car, but I absoulutely hate the wingy bling for a DD and the gas mileage is a joke. The Turbo S is the best in its price class, by a wide margin, considering maintenence, reliability and build quality. I don't see the point of convertibles other than as an occasional gimic, so I'd get a Boxster S before I spent on a 911 for a drop top. Having a targa top is really cool, but the insanely heavy and rediculously expensive transformers thing they did is just silly to me.
IMO the winnner for the money is a low optioned S or a 50th, but they're all good.

I test drove both and was convinced immediately that I wanted the S. For me it is not so much the extra HP but more so the additional torque that is available at lower rev's. On the price: take into consideration that the S comes with a number of extra's that are optional on the non-S models so if you want (some of) those extra's anyway, it reduces the added cost of the S over the non-S somewhat...

Well, although the GT3 and Turbo are "better" in many respects, many (including me) prefer a car without a myriad of scoops, giant wings and all the other effects that the Turbo and the GT3 are adorned with. I much prefer the cleaner lines without all those effects.
