And I am trying to keep this thread going, endless topic sounds good to me
Endless topic sounds like hell, but I love my MT and my JLC as well.

But like I say, I can endlessly comment on why I hope they don't get rid of the MT option, but I'm in no way "anti-PDK". Do you prefer NA or Turbo? A 2 or 4? Coupe, Targa or Cab? Why is there a "wrong" choice?

MT... they'll have to pry it from my cold, dead hands!

C'mon man, get with the times. Trade that old ticker in for a nice new Grand Seiko Spring Drive. Smoother even than PDK.

So true.
And how is everyone supposed to know I am rich if I can't drive my $150,000 car in to the stock holders meeting room?

I had the PDK in my Panamera S for over a year. I grew to hate it, and that's the primary reason that I sold the car.

Give me a MT any day over some kind of automatic.

And for that matter, I don't want my fancy-shmancy manual transmission blipping the throttle for me on downshifts. I can do that myself, thankyouverymuch. If I want to remove all driver input, I'll just buy a Lexus.

Interesting, and very rare. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone going back to MT after a year. What did you think of the rest of the Panamera, as a whole?

As I mentioned early in the thread I did the same with my recent order of the 991S. I lived with the dual clutch for almost a year before I sold it. I'll probably have another one given the direction manufacturers are going but right now I still prefer the manual.

I simply can't understand why anyone would oppose having a choice of options. Producers may not want them for profitability reasons. However consumers should support keeping their options.

Hudyman's earlier post was right on target. Porsche's ability to make money is their corporate concern not ours.

Well first off nobody is opposed to an MT option. So let that straw dog out. But sure there are reasons to be opposed to certain options. One very understandable reason, cost. Unit cost falls with production volume. Therefore the more options available the fewer units made the greater the unit cost. This obviously is a factor since Preuninger explicitly mentions this in the interview Hammer posted, even going into the details of how they have to re-engineer everything for different weight and aerodynamics. Another very understandable reason to oppose options is its archaic. You wouldn't ever want to see a 911 with a buggy whip holder option either. (Don't be so sure they don't have one of these in development. Think how long the cup holder took.)

But again, nobody's taking these positions. We all want to see the MT option go on forever... and ever....
