One data point here--a trip to my dealer today showed one used 911, a 996 turbo, for sale. A couple rows of white and black Cayennes though. It's a big Exclusive dealer, home of the $364k Turbo shown here a few weeks back. Some of the smaller dealers must have nothing to sell.
On the other hand it's like your house is up 20%. Mostly irrelevant as you're not moving or any place you'd move to is also up 20%.

While we're sharing our unsuccessful 911 purchase stories....I've e-mailed at least 3-4 sellers within a couple of hours of their listings going live and got no response. One that did get back to me said he wasn't feeling our conversation and didn't want to sell me the car. One called me an hour before our meet up time to tell me someone else was coming to buy the car.

On the dealer side, I've agreed to a price and had the salesman not allow an external PPI. Lost another one at Porsche dealer 2hrs away that wouldn't accept a deposit as I couldn't get there in time. This used 911 market is crazy. Everything is up $10-15k from 1-1.5yrs ago.

FML, have been looking for a used 991 in manual for the last 6 months. An ad popped up yesterday afternoon for a CPO 2018 yesterday at my local AD, but I didn't see it til the evening. I called first thing in the morning and it was already sold...I passed on one a few months ago (I was the first to reach out to the seller), but passed as it didn't have some of the options I wanted (sport exhaust, sport chrono) and it was black (my least favourite colour). Missed out on a 981 cayman last week by a couple hours as well. I'm starting to lose hope now, thinking about just saying screw and get it a new BMW M2 instead...

I had this thought before as well. I think you should hang in there! I like BMW, but the depreciation on them isn't that great. I don't think the M2 interior materials is very nice either. Unfortunately, with very limited supply, you need to be quick. My friend spotted a Boxster on FB and messaged the dealer right away to put a deposit down. While he was at the dealership, the SA got 6 messages inquiring about that car. Goodluck!

This is exactly what happens...you have to act quick! The dealer couldn't wait for me to pick up the car, as they had over 60 calls in less than a week.
$51k for a 991 S with 40,000 is the best deal I've seen....I am so stoked about the car!

westcoastj, hang in there and don't settle. Good luck!

I bought this 3 pedal well optioned Paint-to-Sample 2015 C4S brand new. Car has less than 7K miles on it today. Needless to say it is in basically perfect condition (garage kept obviously).

Any thoughts from those folks that have been searching this crazy market lately as to what the car would sell for in a private party sale?

if you want the best price for that car, go to bring a trailer. these days you might get over MSRP with the right presentation. who knows.

I'm even looking for convertibles in the winter and they are still that price, it makes zero sense. A few months ago while shopping (but not buying) I noticed a lot more cars in the mid $60's and rarely in the $70's. Thought that winter would keep prices down but damn.........

991.1 S pricing is about the same as base 991.2 cars, seems the 991.2 cars are a much better buy.
An old sales adage, "Sometimes it is better to pay too much and get what you really want, that only happens that one time. If you cheap out, and don't truly love the cheaper car, every time you see the car, you'll say yourself, while in the process of kicking yourself in the ***, "damn, for a little bit more I could have what I really wanted." The used car market as of 4/22/21, is insane, prices are up and cars are not lasting long, as a result, process will go ever higher...lots of people, making good money, working from home with lots of spare time on their hands, and nothing better to do than shop and buy Porsche cars. I confess, I have nothing better to do and have been car shopping for six weeks.

I narrowed my search to a 2012 to 2014 CPO 991, Carrera S, PDK...found one at the Porsche dealer in Naples FL, paid close to $80,000 for a 32,000 mile one owner car. I am in love with the 3.8 motor coupled to Sport Exhaust...music to my ears. I'll post up pics later. Did I pay too much? Don't care, I got the car I wanted.

oh wow. If this is true then it beats the **** out of my deal. Hands down the best deal and cheapest C2S in the country.

easy 60k+ Car and it’s a dealer, less.

definitely make sure you get this car checked out. I haven’t seen an S with that low mileage go for anywhere near 50k in 7 months.

No Sports Chrono for me, if that is the question, Would have preferred to have that option, but PCNA pulled that rug out from under me with the STOP SELL order (April 2021) on PDK cars with Sports Chrono.

The red car in this string....if the mileage is reasonable, and it is well optioned, good money is out there. I came close to getting a 2015 Carrera S 3.8, 38,000 miles, well optioned, but the owner wanted over the $85,000. I thought it was worth the $79,000, he disagreed with me. It did have nearly 2 years of CPO warranty left. I just couldn't write that check for $85,000.

A little sidebar- I thought I'd moved on from ever wanting to ride another bike... but this pic is truly the first time I've had second thoughts.

That pic makes me want to hop on that bike and ride off into the sunset. What a cool bike!
