I wanted "JeffM's" car for sale in Ohio but knew I couldn't get to it in time. I just had too many commitments this week and last. Congrats.

I did buy a 2013 911.1 non S for about the same price last August. But, all things equal, I'd rather have your S car.

Not sure what a “ good deal” is in this market is anymore but saw this car today as I was buying a new family wagon: https://www.cityvwevanston.com/inven...b2a93ks126274/

car locked great and was nice eye candy while I signed docs (granted I am partial to 991s ).

I worked with Ricky there who was great if anyone takes interest.

WOOOOOOOOOW

That's a perfect example of outrageous gouging. That car in that link, a 2019 Targa 4S with basically stripper spec, had an original MSRP of $131k, and they're asking $149k with 7k miles.... but hey it's a manual!

This situation has reached peak ridiculousness.

I get an email "Carfax" from the dealers that I ordered my 991.2 and S550 from. Along with time to oil change and license renewal, it gives a current "value".
The "today's trade in value" has being going UP on both cars the last few months. The 911 by almost 10% recently.

Yep. Targa pricing specifically is out of control. I’ve been looking for six months unable to find what I want (except one dealer that I’m pretty sure screwed me), so I’m just about ready to give up and order a Boxster GTS 4.0...

I don't think you're going to see pricing go down. It might flatten out, but the reality is so much $ is being printed and that'll have an inflationary effect.

Agreed, which is why I’m probably giving up. If I have $100k to spend, getting exactly what I want option and color wise new with a warranty, 4.0 with a MT versus settling for options and colors I might not want on a six-year old PDK car with 50k miles and a 3.4 - I just can’t justify it in my head.

Prices have risen by about 10% over the last six months, at least for 991.1 Targas. Mid-to-late last year, prices were about 70% of MSRP, but now they are regularly 80% or higher. There’s a 2016 near me listed for $128k and the MSRP was $137k.

Yep. No way my Miami Blue 991.2 is leaving the family.

What is a good way to find out what your own 911 might sell for? Just search for examples?

True, but prices for new will just go up too I think. It's happening in other markets, I don't wear Rolex but I know people who do and steel subs go for over MSRP. If you can ever find one at a dealer w/ no markup you can literally buy & flip it for instant profit. Over time Rolex isn't stupid and their MSRPs inch up, which brings up the resale of the older models along with it to some extent.

This, I've been looking for a sub but can't justify spending $4-5k over sticker. Go to an AD and ask if they have any sport models and watch them try not to laugh you out of the store. The dealers now play games too, if you want a sub they will put you on a list, but if you want to get one in the next 2 years you need to play the game and buy a bunch of 38mm stuff that no one wants first. It's pushing me away from Rolex.

That’s why I bought a Tudor BB 58 and actually like the size better for my small wrist.

I would like to get a Rolex datejust 36 though.

This is the moment that all garage queens have waited for. To sell their 500 miles/year driven vehicles for 90% of what they originally were.

Rolex is a bad example, because they've been writing their own rules since way before the pandemic started.

I bought my 26570 Explorer II back in early 2019; I couldn't find one new at an AD so bought a gently used one for near-MSRP @ $7800.

I could probably sell it today for $9k, and the Explorer II is an afterthought compared to a Batman/Pepsi GMT or steel/ceramic Daytona.

Interestingly enough though, this mostly just applies to the steel sports watches. I haven't been paying too much attention recently, but I think you could still get a gold Rolex without getting fleeced too badly on it, but they still hold value exceptionally well.

Awesome, I love that watch.

I'm looking at the new Black Bay Chrono, but I don't like how the knurling on the pushers doesn't match the crown and the snowflake hands obscure the subdials too much (makes them basically useless). I might get the 2021 speedmaster pro sapphire sandwich instead.
