Great watch. The 45 minute subdial was a mistake.

You're probably correct, but I use it as an example of asset prices increasing because of the money supply just getting cranked out. We all know certain things like homes generally qualify as an asset that appreciates over time. However, some luxury goods are exceptions to depreciation and follow that trend. Rolex seem to be one. I suspect (and purchased accordingly) that 911's in general, and 991.1 NA/manual 911's specifically, will fall into that category as well.

Anyone purchasing cars for portfolio / investment purposes, the other two types of cars I was considering were manual transmission R8's and 550/575 Maranello's; both of these cars I THINK are amongst the last to have gated shifters. These things will go for stupid money on BAT in 5-10 years when everything is electric and driving itself.

I think I’d rather have the Omega Speedmaster then the Tudor Chrono.

It's pushing me away from Rolex.
well put yourself in the SA shoes. There is a supply issue and they only get few sport models a month so obviously they will sell to their established customers and or someone who is looking to buy ladies DJs that dont sell. Its the game they have to play and it does suck.

There is a solution though, get yourself an Omega.

I just purchased a 2012 Carerra S with 30k miles, clean in and out. sports chrono, PDK, and exhaust.
Got it private party and paid 66k. I was looking for many months and this was the best deal with the best options.

What do you guys think?

I honestly think you have overpaid for this car but it is your car and your money. Maybe because of this bubble one doesn’t have a choice except buying at these prices but since is going to be my 3rd, I don’t mind waiting until prices come to be more realistic

Considering I have seen base Carrera models in this market going for $60K with 30-40,000 miles on them... I think you did just fine! At the end of the day, as long as you aren't putting yourself in a tough spot, don't overthink what you paid and enjoy the car

this is a decent deal. I picked up a 2014 C2S with same options plus design sport wheel with 40k more miles for 50k back in January. The prices on these things are all over the place.

Yeah I really had no choice and I really wanted this 911. The 2012.5 models were the only ones I could afford and I wanted to pay cash. Who knows when and if the bubble will burst. In my experience, when it comes to luxury goods, the bubble will cont to grow as long as the economy does well.

$123k??? That is definitively "out of control".
Tell me, what is a good spec?

I think you paid market price for the car you wanted, equipped the way you wanted it. The 991 market is nuts right now. I did a quick nationwide search on Autotrader just now to try and find some comps. I only located three '12 S coupes, two in the 50s and one in the 60s. I snagged a picture of the one that was at the upper of the three. It had almost 60K miles.

Enjoy your car!

yeah I think I did pay market price. Mine had 30k miles less and was $66k. oh well. At least I did not overpay because I was definitely being impatient and was aggressively shopping for it. My wife was surprised when I came home with it. Kinda felt like I was having a mid life crisis at the age of 32. She didnt speak for me for a few days because she was upset but let me tell you, it was worth every bit of it and Ill do it again in a heart beat
