991.2 Carrera T - Picture Thread!

In my opinion, if you are looking for the best possible tire to extract all the performance from your 911, go with the Cup2s and relax a little when it rains. You will feel a better driving experience! Remember that Cup2s tires are installed on the GT3 Touring and Speedster, both are top models designed to be mostly on the road!
Cons of Cup2s: Little more expensive than 4s and Pzeros, with less tread life. (about 8000 miles on rear tires).

[QUOTE=737gdog;16679704]How many miles can one expect on the Cup 2 rears? I know it somewhat depends on driving styles but for a street car that is not tracked? I don’t drive my T in the rain. Might occasionally drive in the rain when on a day trip to the mountains but mostly dry.[/QUOTE
You're right! Tread wear is related to the way you drive on the streets, with an aggressive or more relaxed style. I had a 2017 991.2 GTS in the past and the rear Cup2s lasted just 8000 miles. I think if anyone focuses on longevity with great performance, 4s are the perfect recipe! but if you are looking for maximum performance, Cup2s are the answer.

It seems there are two Cup2 conversations going on in the two T threads. I've run Cup2's on two GT3's, as well as the Dunlop sport Max Race or whatever they call that tire on some of the GT cars now. On track that Dunlop is way better in the rain. Equal in dry to the Cup2. Surprisingly good tire. I don't think the Cup2 is a tire to run for street driving. Fine for street at times but that's a tire best suited for heat cycling. If you're not melting the edges you're not working that tire enough to experience its attributes. Also, looping back to that hydroplaning thread. A Cup2 in standing water is a problem, part of that might be the extra width as mentioned, say even on a 305 it's wider. For any rain driving any max performance summer tire is way better, even the OE P-zeros. I personally would not put on a Cup2 for a car only driven on the street, but that's just me.

Here is a decent review of the 4 vs 4S vs Cup2s with wet and dry lap times on each:
Concur that you unless you are driving hard enough to get the Cup2s up to the temperatures they are designed for, then the full performance benefits aren't realized. Here's a good video from Savage Geese on whether or not maximum performance tires are for you:
(3:20 is where the real meat of it begins).

On 245/35/20 & 305/30/20 for 911, there is only 3 options on to be use on road & track:
1- *Pzeros
2- *4s
3- *Cup2
*Sport Max Race 2 (only for track)>>
all other options on the market do not meet (N0,N1,N2) porsche standards.
I plenty tested these 3 first options in the past, and had the opportunity to experienced some results, but focusing in my particular needs on tires for the road.
I live in Florida, and temperatures here are in average really hot, so that’s good in order to warming tires fast to get full potential and performance . With Cup2s, normally after 10 min of driving in dry pavement, they start to show superbly qualities exceeding the other 2 options. with 4s and Pzeros warming time is less.
The bottom of this matter (I think) people must choose tires depending on they own conditions like style of driving and what weather type they live.
Here is link for those ones who want to know better about N standards

Side note, it looks like if you buy Michelin tires from a dealer before August Michelin will give you an 80 dollar gift card.
Probably not enough to cover the surcharge the dealer puts on the tire, but for those who prefer the dealer.

EDIT: if your dealer won't, a lot of dealers WILL match other dealers coupons.
south bay advertises the tire rack matching on their website. https://www.porschesouthbay.com/part...ientId=PORSCHE
