Default T inventory shrinking

Hi,

some facts from the german site mobile.de

currently only 28Ts for sale, so the inventory in shrinking rapidly and prices keeping steady. Same time 46 gt3 tourings for sale on that site.

Low spec manual Ts are getting rare to find, T is definately a keeper.

New owner from the Great White North, Toronto area, saying hello to all. I recently took delivery of a ‘19 911T in racing yellow with manual transmission and the cf LWBS. Wow, what a phenomenal machine!

There are some targas and base carreras if you use that search, so not that many Ts. Maybe little bit over 30, but the T inventory is shrinking.

Fair enough, the law is the law. I will take a few pics and add them next week once I wash and wax the car, my way. I have ceramic tint and PPF baking/drying right now.
Cheers.

Anyone own a 718 GTS and 911T. Currently trying to decide between these two vehicles for my wife's new car (PDK) and am coming up at an impasse right now. Don't have either of these cars around me to drive but have driven them both in manual version in the past couple years. Really looking for the car to be fun at road speeds and not necessarily all out. Curious to hear owners opinions on the two.

I owned a 991.2S (7MT), 718 GTS (6MT), and the 991.2 T (PDK).

I love the Cayman platform, it is so nimble, and playful. Neutral car with a lot of balance. I also think that the F4 wasn’t so bad - and it opened up a bit more at 2k miles. It still sounded much better than the M3/4!
I still think that as much as I liked the GTS, the T to me felt special in a way that only GT cars do. The steering was as good of not better than the cayman, and I absolutely love how playful the 911 chassis is. It’s also hard to beat the sound of the F6 and that alone is worth the price.

I owned a 718 Cayman GTS with PDK. I sold that and ended up keeping the Carrera T. The 718 is an excellent car, very easy to drive fast in the twisties with the mid engine layout. It just has a great feel. The Flat 4 sounds good but the Flat 6 sounds much better, in my opinion. Having the engine further back in the 911 seems to quiet down the interior noise compared to the 718, at least that was one of my initial impressions when I first drove the Carrera. Most of the undesired noise in the T is tire noise depending on the road surface. I love the Sport Tex seats with the T interior package, gives the T a unique look and I would take Sport Tex over leather or Alcantara now that I have had Sport Tex. My T has Rear Active Steering, which was an option that I wanted coming from a 718, though not a must have option from what others have said. I just wanted the 911 to be as nimble as possible like the 718 and with RAS, it does not disappoint.

I like the interior volume of the 911, even though I have yet to use the rear seats, I can flip down the seats for additional storage. For me, the 2+2 layout of the 911 is just one of those odd things that make the 911 a 911, if that makes sense. Both cars seem equally fast, especially with a PDK the speed comes effortlessly. My T is a manual, which ultimately I prefer. It takes a little more effort, so I just drop down a gear and get on the throttle and it feels and sounds great For me, the T just feels and sounds more special. As many have said, the 3.0 engine in the T is a gem. Good luck, not an easy decision since the 718 is a very good Porsche too.

Having owned a 6 cyl 981 Cayman with a manual for many years, I felt the 718 GTS was an inferior car from a "magic" perspective. If I never owned a flat 6 Cayman, I would say the GTS was an ok car. I had the car out for a couple hours back to back with other cars. The Engine note on the 718 gave me a headache where my 981 sounded so good I could listen to it for hours on end. Porsche ruined the 718 in my mind until the new 6 cyl cars came out. If you are taking about a GTS 4.0 that is another matter.

The 911T was in a whole other league enjoyment wise. I have driven a lot of 991.1's. I drove most of the rear wheel drive 991.2 series cars. I have driven GT3's (997.2, 991.2) They all are nice.

The T was the most exciting for me other than the GT3. Even then, I liked the trim, color schemes, etc on the T better.

I liked the 991.2 GTS a lot as well but turbo lag was more prevalent.

I echo the above. 981 CS to 991 T. With RAS and PTV, you will be missing out on nothing from the Cayman. Without RAS you’ll have some rear ended bias to get used to, but the purists will high five you for it.

Good Luck!

Short answer is have your wife drive them both and pick one. Longer answer is that I put 70K miles on my RUF 3400K (think (718GT4 + GTS 4.0)/2) and now have 21K miles on the T.. Big difference (which I appreciate) is that the T is a bit easier to get out of. Also, I made a rear package shelf to replace the rear seat so that my dog's bed can go back there. Ultimately, the GTS and Carrera T have more overlap than difference but after trying both one will be the right answer and one won't. To really confuse the issue also have her drive the Macan.

Good luck.
