I found another interesting device called the Smart Box with some killer features. I haven't bought or tested it myself, but found a review on Youtube of it.

^ Video features are shown around the 12 minute mark of the video.

It also can handle wireless android auto and iphone / carplay, and allows media playback of video files over USB media, and screen mirroring (even for streaming video) (and a customized boot screen). Seems pretty cool.
But it's a kickstarter project, so beware and do your own research - it isn't already sold and proven.

According to the YouTube reviewer, when asked if it was worth paying more over the Carlinkit 4.0 to get this one, he said the following:
"The mirroring video played smoothly but there was a slight lag between video on the mobile and the screen. For me, its fine as long as it is mirroring properly on the screen. Carlinkit is also a good device but its not the same, this one is 4-in-1 and Carlinkit 4.0 is 2-in-1"

I have AA activated by Sima, but recently used PIWIS to activate my wi-fi module. After doing this, the Apps icon returned (it was gone after activating AA), and now, whenever I connect my phone via USB, it tries to connect to the PCM instead of activating AA. Any advice on how to fix this?

I would ask Sima. May need to redo his magic.

I connected the Ottocast this afternoon to my 982 GTS. Wow! It worked? Google maps seemed to work just fine..
Do I need to disconnect the USB at the car everytime?

I leave my AA Wireless plugged into the USB slot in the Glovebox.

When does that one power off. As soon as you lock the car door or is there a delay? I've been using the one of the armrest that I'm finding that when I get home I have to battle between my phone trying to connect to my home Wi-Fi and to reconnect to the OtterBox because the one on the armrest doesn't turn off immediately.

Not sure, but likely stays powered for a bit as are all yhe ports.

Have not had issue with my phone connecting ro my home wifi, but have not paid much attention.

I use the glove box port to keep the space in the arm rest for the phone if I need to charge it.

Here in UK pondering on USB dongle or firmware hack. I see Ottocast gets mixed reviews. Any other dongles people recommend or long term reviews on AA upgrade via simmaservice?

You were able to a activate wifi with the PIWIS? So you could there the PCM with your phone?

Sima Servis did mine. Also did my previous Boxster. Works perfectly.

Hi Chris,
I learn a lot with your post on Porsche PCM and want to thank you for that first.
As you can imagine i have a probleme with PCM4 comming from a crached car (MHI2_E_POG11_P3299 SOFT 0807), my original one is with me dead beacuase of flood but i can read EEprom (i got .bin file), i try the NOR but no succes and about RCC, i removed it but don't try to read.
Because of this PCM i'm under CP no sound only phone by BLuetooth.
I removed the PCM from the car and plug on bench, connected the UART (B3, B9), communication is there on PUTTY but i can not do nothing every each second report coming from the PCM, i don't i have time to wrote any word to login with passwork or use the "STFU"to stop verbose.
please can you help on this that will be very kind of you thank you.
