ahhhhh!!!!!

got it! Thank you very much.

Got it setup and everything looks great but I get no audio! Oh man, everything installed perfect but it’s these last little bits.

did a bit of searching and looks like since I have a Bose system I need to disconnect the fiber cable from the original harness and plug it into the new Joyeauto harness. I’ll do that when I get back to it tomorrow.

About to comment to your post, yes you missed to connect the orange (I think) fiber cable. I have never made this install before because I was too scared to mess around with things, even though I have it memorized to the step. )

ha! Don’t let it scare you, it’s fairly easy really except for the quirks which you seem to already know. Appreciate the help!

I have been wondering the same. My JoyeAuto box is working great, but I'd probably switch to an OEM retrofit solution if it became available.

Just a heads up to others. My fiber connection wires weren’t orange, they were green. It makes a TON more sense when you realize it’s two wires on the far right side of the 48 pin main harness. They pop out together and go right into the harness from the unit to the back of the head unit.

Another tip, don’t do this “upgrade” if you don’t have hours to research how to install or how to make it work or sound settings etc. the instructions are sh*t

Now I can’t figure out how to have it default to switching to CarPlay when I get into the car and go. It doesn’t do anything or it goes to the aux Bluetooth and uses that instead of the CarPlay. I’m sure if I researched for an hour I could figure it out......

I mean I understand your frustration, but a few simple youtube videos would have sorted out your issue with the bose cables and this post. I'm preparing to do my own install and both of these are mentioned. Hope this helps:

(bose at the end of the install)

and in another video that I can't currently find it linked to this bit of useful info:

4. If you are using Wireless Carplay, deactivate the PCM AUX BT. This one took me weeks to figure out. Every time I would turn my car on, I intermittently had connections issues that would prevent Apple Carplay to activate or play any sound, and it would require me 4 to 5 minutes (sometimes unpairing and pairing the whole thing again) for it to work. I came to the realization that AUX BT and the Carplay module bluetooth were fighting for which could connect first. If the Carplay module connected first, no issues. If the PCM AUX BT connected first, it created a significant connection issue. Apparently the AUX BT and the AUX share the same channel, and you can use one or the other. To deactivate AUX BT in PCM 3.1 see,

. This video shows how to activate AUX BT, but you can follow steps to deactivate.

Another thing I noticed with the NM Auto/Unichip install, is that FM radio reception is hampered. The manual warns about it but blows it off as not a big deal. When driving around briefly today, local radio stations were full of static and I couldn't receive an HD radio signal any more. I don't listen to the radio that much, but it's something to take note of.

Reposting my install how to that I cobbled together from a couple of sources on YouTube and my own experience. The AutoAmateur video is excellent.

Do you have Bose or Burmester in your car?

Unpair your phone to the HU, and shut OFF Bluetooth Audio on the HU. Then CarPlay will connect on a start, but it takes 10-30sec, and it will default to normal AUX input.

Got the aux bluetooth unchecked and now it hooks up BUT only if I select Joyeauto manually in my Bluetooth settings, if I don't it won't connect at all no matter how long I wait. I'm going to try and read thru this whole thread but if anybody has any idea on what's going on there I would appreciate any help.
