A drive in the Carrera T and GT3 Touring
Hello everyone,
And someone here thought it wouldn't happen.
I'm headed for Europe to attend a small vehicle launch for the Carrera T and GT3 Touring for 000 Magazine—and thought I'd open a thread for a dialog about both cars for those interested. I'll have a camera with me, and may be somewhat data limited as we'll be in remote areas at times, but if you've got questions or photo requests, please pass them along. Hopefully there will be a car or Porsche representative who can help answer them.
Pete
EDIT: Photos added, see post #120

Here’s a question. Is there any incompatibility between getting Burmester audio and rear seat delete in conjunction with LWBs?
i have this fantasy of flying across the desert on highway 50 with the Allman Brothers cranked up very loud.

Time frame? Exciting stuff.
BTW, my vote is that the back to back between GT3 and T is very relevant. ie if T is 90% of fun at 2/3 the cost, and is more streetable due to less high strung engine, and less to worry about, well, decision: T imo.

How exciting! I’m subscribing to this thread. Please give the T a proper test drive if possible and of course compare to the GT3T. Not necessarily looking for a performance comparison but rather an “experience “ comparison. Also, could you please document the options list in your demo car? I’ve got a T on order, due next year. I can’t wait to hear journalists impressions.
BTW, I’ve just ordered my first issue of 000 (I think the one with the 959 on the cover).

P.S. Ego aside (And I have a big one...albeit it is shrinking) I'd rather drive a Base Boxster on the back roads than a 918.

The report on the cars is nice reading and fun for the driver.
But . . .
The T is cool enough because it generates buzz. But on the performance level it is a 991 Carrera. Porsche release its umpteenth 911 model and people go crazy. It is not the Every Guys 911R.
A GT3 is a different car that happens to have the same body shape and shares the same 3 numbers.

I second this. Is it something they'd put their foot down and say "impossible with stringent EPA rules and/or at a cost that isn't catastrophic on a low production run model" or if they'd insinuate an internal door is open on it.
