New 911 Carrera T: a completely pointless marketing exercise

The 991 Turbo recently broke into the 8's. Seems like a fine choice to me.
Plenty of people buy Porsches for performance. Why do you think they make an all wheel drive Turbo or GT3? To be slow?
Only posers in 991.1 cabs won't understand why people put a premium on performance or why Porsche's are respected in the automotive performance community. Those same people won't understand why turbos change the ballgame.

Since when has there been an AWD, GT3?
You keep saying Cab as if it's my only car? Why can't you discuss a topic without reverting to ignorant personal "attacks". In every thread you make a comment about my having a cab as if I or anyone else cares.
My cab will never see a drag strip, or ever race anyone from a roll... it'll maybe see half a dozen track days for fun. Oh and 99% of the time I'm driving it I have the top down and a cigar in hand.
Enjoy living your life one 1/4 mile at a time... How many NOPI stickers do you have on your car?

WHAT? The turbo isn't being discussed.

The comment was why do they make an all wheel drive Turbo and a GT3 not that the GT3 is awd. Do you really try so hard to invent issues when it is clearly understood the GT3 is rwd? Porsche builds high performance sports cars. They also build 991.1 cabs for old ladies.
Of course your cab won't see the drag strip. It belongs in front of a Starbucks.
I don't have to hit the drag strip but the difference is I can and actually put up impressive numbers as can all turbocharged 911's. You can drop your top and listen to your exhaust though. Just as exciting.

Holy crap, R-Rated and Sticky, give it a rest already. You two have completely destroyed this thread. Take a break, or start your own new thread to argue. Give some consideration to those coming here to read about the new 991T launch.

Careful, this might get the “blood flowing” to
the thumbtack sticky stores in his pants, rendering him finding the nearest unassuming .1> vacuum rev> then proceed to solo-race from a stoplight whilst swerving in and out of traffic and chanting “I’M WINNING! TORK POWER BRO!”
What have you done.

Those chicks look good and all and probably perform well but I'm more interested in what they sound like. I'd like to connect with them on an emotional level.

On the subject of the new Carrera T,
here’s the big issue I perceive. For an 11 lb weight savings, you get thinner glass and removed sound deadening material. Those are two things that will lesson the refinement experience of the car.
Now, that’s all great and good on a GT car with a race bred inherency and a musically screaming N/A wailing out behind you, soulfully engaging you regardless of its track performance and from the second you start it up.. but is it worth putting up with on this car? To shave maybe a tenth or two off the 1/4 mile?
Of course, this is a lesson in Porsche’s mastery to give you just enough, but not everything. You get that new transmission which will be the only true reason this car will outrun a base in a straight line (more so than the 11 lbs), and SPASM. Which will benefit track and backroad driving. Yet it’s not a fully exotic drivetrain and suspension vehicle, a’la GT3, so bringing in more road and wind noise may not exactly be worth the trade off. This is a nuanced priorities car more so than any other 911.
I think it’s a good buy if for the depreciation mitigation alone (unless it’s marked up), and if you’re looking for a base car and don’t care about the fluff. But otherwise, it’s a somewhat confused package, namely due to the story the engine behind it and combo of options are attempting to tell.

Disappointing lack of camel toe

Likewise. It's refreshing to see this kind of a variation down near the base Carrera model. Yes, it may be silly for just a hundred pounds of weight savings, but the very idea of it is intriguing to me. I have found myself on the configurator page a lot lately jus trying to set up the Carrera T I would buy. I cannot afford a 911R or a GT3 touring, but this T is something I would actually consider. While it may be a parts bin car or some pointless marketing exercise to some, to me it's getting me excited about the 991.2 in a way I haven't been before. It's about making the driving experience more about the car-driver connection.
