Replacement OEM PCCB rotors are about $24k from porsche
Good data point. That’s the concern, and why you’d need to check wear some events in. What tracks were you running, Sears, T-hill, Laguna?

Seems very track (and driver) dependent, but well over $1k per track day (especially with pads) gets ridiculous if you track regularly. It doesn’t impress that Porsche has been chasing this issue for a decade and a half, meanwhile other manufactures (Chevy) sell rotors made by the same supplier for 1/4 the price.

That said given medium track usage I’d still consider it (checking carefully).

Ouch. As ever, the primary fear factor with PCCB. I also worry about pebbles getting stuck between pad and rotor—which has happened to me one or twice on road trips over the last 20~ years, thankfully always with iron rotors.

Amazed there aren't more options out there for PCCB replacement. This one doesn't use the factory hats but does offer substantial cost savings.

Dang, like others pointed out it ends up being >$1K per track day.
No way would steel brakes wear out at that same cost rate. Last I checked, the rotors and pads for my GTS are 1200 and can probably survive 3-4 track days (beginner level).

Much more than that for the rotors for sure.

Reviving an old thread. Now that we know the Carrera T is produced in a very low number, could parallels be drawn to the Carrera RS America, a parts bin car like the T and now worth twice as much?

Don't tell me that! I *actually* want to drive this car - not put it in a museum! :-)

Is it actually confirmed? What's the estimated final number and will it only be a 2018 model?

New MMB platform for the 992 platform in fall so 2018 is the only year. I know locally, the dealers got less T cars than GT3RS cars, 6 T cars in Houston, 3 at largest dealer. 5 GT3RS cars at largest dealer, don’t know total for Houston but likely a handful more.

I got last allocation (3of 3) at my dealer with April build and June delivery.

Not only COULD parallels be drawn, parallels HAVE in fact been drawn. Just a few days ago someone who actually owns an RSA tried his hand at it. Pretty sure it was an optical illusion. Or hallucination.

If today's T is to stand any chance of competing with the RSA then what it needs more than anything else is rumors. Like the body is seam welded unobtainium. The engines are the same spec but nano balanced and individually tuned by Norbert Singer in his basement. Anything to counteract the reality of it being the namesake of the cheapest 911, the last one to still use carburetors.

It should have a 2019 production year. Last deliveries will be in dec so given the long summer production break it should still be pretty limited. Im gonna drive mine

Title of thread could be changed to: New 911 Carrera T: A far more interesting runout model than a Black Edition

YMMV, but when one considers the Black Edition palette, the T's palette looks generous...

Haha black edition white edition yellow addition, Porsche could make a special “our customers are idiots” edition and people would lap it up.

Even worse they could ruin a 911 with an ugly sticker pack and call it “endurance racing edition” and people would still buy it.

I never understood the Black Edition. Talk about a silly model. I don't feel the T is anywhere near that abysmal territory.

LOL, only after a $30k discount where you won't feel so bad pulling the stupid stickers off. What's left is pretty nice CS. I can put a pair of rocker panel stickers on the base below and have a Faux T edition.
