Among my cars, I look at my 911R as the most "Fun Car." I typically use it on special occasions and late night cruise on the back suburban roads after watching atypical late night shows. It is the perfect time where there is no traffic, no one following me and taking video or pictures of my car on their smart phones.
This post is even more ridiculous than the OPs. As a car guy I'd appreciate seeing a R on the road, but to think the average person would have any idea they're driving next to a half million dollar (6 months ago) car is laughable. Fun car to drive? I'm sure. Frenzy inducing car to anyone but the most ardent car people? Not a chance. You own a cool car, but no need to convince yourself, or the rest of us, that it's something it isn't.

This thread may be the worst I have seen in 10 years on Rennlist.

IMHO Porsche created this mess. In a greedy move to sell the remaining 918's they created a VIP program that has pissed off alot of enthusiasts that have been buying Porsches for decades. I don't see the point attacking dealers trying to make a living.

I personally love the 911R. I don't go the track that often so I can live without the wing and I love a car with a stick shift. I like others tried very hard to get a 911R to no avail. So I am stuck driving my 991TTS...came very close to getting an R but decided for that kind of money will focus on a CGT

for the money R vs CGT, of course the CG. If the R had been the only manual or last manual, it would be worth every penny

Yep. Porsche killed the high value flipper/speculator R game when they released a better .2 that the diehards can get in manual.

To GT3. Enjoy your R but to think you are someone famous and you have to drive at night so the paparazzi don't follow you, right. Your R looks like every other Carrera on the road. Only a true P car fan knows what that car is. The only reason I wouldn't sell that car for $500k is because I hadn't held on to it long enough and wouldn't want to be removed from the VIP program, otherwise you are not wise.

Could we not just create a sticky thread called "Bash the R here - no real-life experience necessary"..?
It would save having to latch on to a different post each week.

Funny stuff there!
Hilarious actually. That's Florencio . Hard to imagine how he gets out of the driveway after watching "atypical late shows"

On topic, will second the notion that GT2 RS will end up being real deal.

Selling positions on a list for $10-30K should be grounds for losing your forum sponsorship. The animal world already has enough parasites, the last thing we should be doing is encouraging them here.

I haven't heard people bashing the R, just bashing excessive hyperbole about the car and associated outlandish asking prices.

GTFO here with real data!

Anyone who doesn't think there would be huge demand for these cars well over MSRP is delusional. Prices will come down at some point, assuming more owners actually want to sell them, but not to sticker. There are still way too many people who really love this spec of a car and would be willing to pay a premium for it. Jealousy breeds contempt, which breed delusion I guess.

What cracks me up is some of the posters on here saying this car should be trading at MSRP are the same people posting about how a $15k premium over sticker on a used GT4 with 2k miles is reasonable...
