Default Mmm...corduroy

So GT3 + Touring package = R with better engine + extra 30-50lbs at 1/2 the price?

But AP states that the R will always be special with lower volume, and the low weight components the car is homologated with (carbon hood, plastic windows (EU only), etc etc). This touring package won't have those bits.

  • GT3 Touring would look like this for me;
  • 4.0 GT motor - duh
  • GT3 chassis - with maybe some "street", more compliant tuning
  • reduced aero bits - maybe ducktail?
  • couple rear seats - couple kids back there
  • Saddle interior - option to have LWB
  • Either transmission - manual for me
  • Sophisticated paint options - GT Silver, British Racing Green, - option to go PTS
That's it. Would make a heelva daily driver!

And no LWFW, it sounds little, but it makes a world of difference.

X90. Very intriguing and I think it would be the way I'd spec a .2 GT3. I love the special historic touches like the corduroy seat inserts and wonder what they'll look like. Could be a really special car.

Here are random images referencing corduroy fabric in 356/911s.

Tune not really necessary, nor would it really make any difference. The two cars are light years different in construction and character. I'd have zero interest in a GTS, but would think long and hard about doing the touring version of a GT3 if I had the choice. 50-50.

There was a good write up on Jalopnik this week about the GTS and how dead and clinical it feels. Don't think the experience is anything like driving a GT3, lap times be damned.

Carbon bits take 15-20lb off. The LWFW 20lb more -- could be put in a GT3 after market if necessary. Lower volume a marketing gimmick and a non-issue if it's practically the same car.

I have a 991R and I would really love a .2 GT3 with touring package.

Wow, have only driven the 991.2s w/ Sport Exhaust, but did agree mostly here. I was slightly on the fence about the GTS if I couldn't get a GT3 (likely I will, fingers crossed) but this sums up a lot of how I felt. A GT3 with Touring package is perfect for me (save for I'd prefer PDK) but wife will live with Manual if I have 4 seats and subtract the wing (she despises them).
