The Mclaren needs to be compared like for like for a proper comparison tbh. Put racing buckets and a Cup2 or Trofeo on the Mclaren (any Mclaren) and it loses nothing imo compared to any 9X1 generation Porsche (R excepted as I have never tried one) in chassis feedback and engagement. Well apart from the turbo engine anyway which while very functional in providing heaps of power definitely lacks something vs the very high revving NA engine of the gt3/rs. Had to choose between keeping a gt4 and 12c (that I had fitted with bucket seats) last year and it wasn't even close in deciding in the end which car was the more engaging and fun to drive and it wasn't the gt4.

I think the 7.2rs remains a better car to drive than the 12c but it's also a considerably less well rounded car in many ways as the range of capability in any of the modern Mclarens is really impressive.

This soul thing IMO is for guys who prefer driving a slow car fast not a bad thing but Mclaren is building a brand based on tech - takes time just like Apple as they have to sell product to get better.

Porsche adds a new plastic part on a decade old style and their customers run to their dealers for allocations.

I have driven many Porsches. The 675LT was a 2015 or 2016 so it needs to be compared to a 2015/2016 Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo

The 997 GT3 is a fantastic car and one of my all time favorites but it's not fair to compare it to a new car that has the newest and latest technology.

If you want engaging some people would say a 2.7 911RS would be more engaging over a 997 RS

Soul is nothing more than Image + Nostalgia, all in the mind of the believer.

Lol.

I looked at your inventory and didn't see exactly what I wanted.

I love the Dallas dealer here (esp Chris Blank who is the most knowledgeable sales person I've ever dealt with and I've dealt with hundreds), but they also didn't have what I wanted. For some reason, I have also had difficulty on the numbers with them. I guess there's too many rich people here who will pay up.

If I like it, I may get a 570S spider or wait for the 720S spider. I'll hit you up then.

Yes, go Oilers! After being a kid in the '80s in Edmonton, I've been waiting a long time for this.

The McLaren is not replacing my RS. They are different cars to me. It's just refreshing to get a technologically up to date car with exotic looks and Drivers car of the year attributes for less than a 911 Turbo S. (And with no dealer games, waitlists, and markups)

Congrats the green looks great! Mantis?

SPIDER TIME:

Speaking of the 570S Spider- we have some launch cars coming if anyone wanted to get in early it's recommended bc the lines are growing. Also, although the 720S spider is a couple years out that line is forming as well. (Friendly FYI to all.)

570S Spider Launch Cars:
Sicilian Yellow
Vega Blue (similar to aurora/burton)
Curacao Blue (looks like Mexico or fistral type)
onyx black (white interior option aka domino)
ventura orange
white

I know the owner. He's so OCD he still puts plastic down in the seat before I sit in the car. It's immaculate. I have no idea if this is a good price or not. I suspect his was highly optioned.

Exactly. The RS or 911R is an awesome car to keep in a collection. The 570 is really a great complimentary car for daily use and for spirited use.

This is anecdotal. Friend just bought a beautiful 650. It's been on a flatbed 2x in 3 months leaving him stranded. It's awesome when it's running.

Hmmmm...

One car with a problem vs all of the engine problems for the 991 GT3 and GT3 RS? Cars sitting for months waiting for an engine swap, only to need another later for a different problem? It's awesome when it's running.

I swear there is more discussion on McLarens on this forum than over on the dedicated McLaren forums .

I am still torn, love my GT3 and would buy another or an RS if PCA would let me, that is without dealer mark ups. As I try to track my car regularly, I am not sure the 570S is the best choice for me and I don't want to spend $300K plus on a track car. The McLaren track warranty is for 3 yrs - not covered under the extended warranty as I understand it. Track use also required pre and post event inspections. But still that 570S with track package is very tempting,
