Sweet looking car Ky, keep us posted on how you like it. As I get tired with the BS and work involved in trying to get GT allocations, I may look at Mac.

That McLaren makes a good machine is of no doubt.

That McLaren is missing the heart and soul of a Porsche is also of no doubt.

Robert, are you trying to get a ride in a McLaren now?

No, not at all. I have been in several.

But I apologize. The above should have said "That McLaren makes a good machine is of no doubt.

BTW, never got the ride in the Singer through, speaking with others who have, they all say it rides like a 964 -- which is a good thing (and which, ultimately, it is).

After driving my friends stock 675LT I felt that the McLaren had more heart and soul over the Porsche. This car is SPECIAL!
The steering feel and feedback was awesome!

It depends upon one's definitions. To me, HP and speed are not heart or soul.

You are correct.....
But the steering feel on that 675LT was special
I never drove the 12c or the 650 so I don't know how they are

Steering feel on the 650 and 570 are both awesome and IMO way more communicative than the Porsche. It really says something that with all the tech in the car Mclaren kept the hydraulic steering and it has great feedback even at low speeds.

Its not about that.. drive a 675LT and the hydraulic steering is infinitely better than a 991 series Porsche. Also, the feedback from the chassis is very impressive. I agree that nothing pitter-patters like an air cooled 911, with that subtle understeer in first turn-in, then that planted feel on exit.. but today's 911's don't feel like that either. If you're comparing turbo to NA, then yes the Porsche sounds much better.. but take a 911 turbo vs even the most pedestrian mclaren 570s, and its no contest, you would pick the 570s all day long.. let alone the 675LT

Whenever someone brings up the 'soul' argument to describe a car or moto, I realize once again how valuable good marketing is and how easily people will buy into it. Like listening to people wax on and on about the 'soul' of their Ducatis. I owned a few and the only soul I noticed was the part they dripped on the garage floor.

I would expect 997 GT3 has same feedback and is probably more engaging..?!

Porsche ceded the high ground of steering feedback with their adoption of electric steering. Porsche GT cars should have the same hydraulic system (with pump driven by electric motor) just like McLaren and Porsche factory 911 racecars...

Porsche used to be peerless in this respect and now they're merely average - just in the name of saving a few bucks. I bet if they made "Cup Steering" an option on GT cars, people would be willing to pay a big amount...

http://www.porsche.com/usa/eventsand...turesandspecs/

This would also allow then to fit the E-Diff from the PDK-S model onto the Manual gearbox version of the GT3...
