Three Wheelin'
Interesting product, and I'm not surprised by the growth of 100%. Still hard to gauge if they are pulling share from Porsche, Ferrari, or Lambo minus seeing the side by sides. Also an increase of 1600 car sales across the globe is a small number relative to the number of Porsche cars sold that compete in the same space if some share came off Porsche.
I see several issues with MAC small dealer network, high depreciation, owners get screwed because their car is obselete the next year with a new model. (650, 650S, and two versions of the 570 in less than a year) if I would take a guess I would say share is coming from Ferrari or Lambo because of the price point. Also Porsche GT cars tend to be used by more guys that track their cars and driving the crap out of them, and MAC is more see my new toy in most cases. I have a friend that had 3 650's, 570, and 675LT, and all sold or traded with less than 2000 miles.
I have driven the 650S, and the brakes are crap when stopping hard at 190mph. Same run in a Turbo S the brakes are rock solid and I felt safe vs. the MAC getting loose in the back during braking. The Porsche never over heated launch after launch like the MAC so they have some durability issues to solve, but they are super fast! They do make it easy to order cars, and paint them any color you like though? Almost purchased, but would never buy new due to the depreciation hit which is terrible.

Drove the GT3RS this weekend and fell in love all over again. I don’t think I can pick one over the other. They are both great cars and I’m glad I have both. The RS isn’t going anywhere unless the 992 tops it.

Mac doesn't pay much attention to the Ring. Robert Mitchell, who probably has more Ring laps in various supercars than anyone else, says he is quite sure the Senna would be quicker at the Ring than his 2RS MR. I don't know of anyone who has done a serious effort there with a Senna.
It will.

And Arrow McLaren SP nearly won the second Indycar race from Road America on Sunday (after leading most of the race from pole)

I can finally chime in on more properly to this thread after owning a 570s and now a '19 RS. Previously I had a 997GT3 and decided to explore the V10 world with an R8V10+ and then wanted to try the more exotic world of McLarens with the 570s. My ownership of the 570s was bittersweet. While the car was fast, handled well, beautiful, it's build quality left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. There were stupid electronic errors all the time. I had horn, lights, sensors, backup camera, key not detected errors. During ownership I had a coolant tank rupture and then last month thermostats failed. Aside from build quality, one of the most outrageously negative parts of the car is the internal infotainment system. It looks like it came from something you'd find in the early 90s with a 10 color display that lags about 2 seconds after you press anything. Some times the radio wouldn't work. Other owners have had it freeze on them even. Let's not forget the fact that you're pretty locked into servicing at their service center as dashboard service reminders can NOT be removed by a 3rd party shop. Additionally the depreciation on it was the final dealbreaker for me where I had to get my money out and onto a car that's equally enjoyable without the crappy build quality. Maybe 10 yrs from now, they'll get their **** together or maybe VW/Audi should buy them and add some build quality to them the way lamborghini's upped their quality somewhat through new ownership.
It's a real shame as McLaren creates amazing looking and performing cars only to be let down by their manufacturing, quality control, small dealer network, and abysmal depreciation.

McLarens are exotics and there are certain things that will result in problems with them:
1) they have lightweight lithium ion batteries and thus always should be left on a tender. If you don’t and the battery runs low, you get electrical gremlins like you experienced. Then people end up making posts like yours and trash the reputation of the whole brand. The key present sensor is known to be sensitive and basically is a nonissue if you keep the key in your right pants pocket or if you replace the battery in the key if the battery is low.
2) also, as an exotic, the cars are more sensitive to Being driven before base idle is achieved and should never be driven hard at all before they are up to proper oil temp. The turbos generate a lot of heat, and the dramatic change in temperatures resulting from diving hard before the oil is up to temp can cause issues like you experienced. These problems generally do not occur if proper temps are achieved first
3) the bowers Wilkins stereo in mine was great. And the interface was nice and certainly not like from a 90s car. Frankly I liked it every bit as much as my 19 gt3 interface. Do ever recall having any issue that couldn’t be solved immediate with the back button or turning it off/on. If the radio interface in tour McLaren got to you, you made the right choice staying away from exotics
generally, people who drive Porsches are used to cars they can ignore all the protocols above and just beat on relentlessly without consequence. I get that. That being said, McLaren makes WONDERFUL cars. I liked my 570S just as much as my 19 gt3rs, but like my 675LT MUCH more. Posts like yours discourage people from enjoying cars of a lifetime provided they are cared for appropriately.

Also spent 2 track days in a row and absolutely no mechanical issues.
Sure the OEM data telemetry system couldn’t find the track on its GPS but the car ran like a beast - especially with the Hoosiers on.
