Would be surprising but it's always felt like ChicagoWhale has some sort of insider knowledge and was hiding something.

He's probably just moved on because the last 991 is already produced and there's no longer a profit motive for whatever dealership interest he seems to have.

I don’t mind. The first was Philly With hydraulic and the second was Charlotte with the power steer pump. Remember when they open Mac are NOT like other cars so dispite mechanics with 10 years Mac is not training them well enough or thoroughly enough. Philly was professional and courteous but after the second or third try it is strained even with the best of politeness. Charlotte i did not feel valued at all and i would not buy another car from them.

Mclaren is ever changing the warranty. The 12C’s were 10 years. At the 7 year mark it was $7k and started at $4k when i they were first extended. Will have to check but I believe the first 3 yers for new cars but will have to check to be sure. Also, make sure you understand what is covered on and not covered. For example hoses are not covered on the extended 12C warranty. But to change all of them out they have to pull the motor! so it was over $1k for me to replace as it was found on my first extended. I was surprised and didn’t realize how many things were not covered....

Yeah, that sounds horrible and is the thing keeping me from a Mac. I love the way the cars look, and the performance, and I could even swallow the cost, but it would **** me off to hardly ever be able to drive the car and have the hassle of constantly sending back and forth to the dealer for service.

The MP4-12C was McLaren’s first mass production car and everyone knows they can have gremlins. If you are coming from a GT3 variant you should be looking at an LT (675 or 600) if you are looking to make the jump. The LTs are extremely reliable and the 675LT spider is my favorite car by a wide margin.

3 years like most standard, and you can buy extended before the factory expires. I find it to be similar as Ferrari ........my 675LT 3 expired, and negotiated a one year with my purchase. Can get a 2 year for about 9k as it’s cheaper to do 2 vs 1. One is about 5700 same as Ferrari ...........

That is what happened to me. I don’t believe my dealerships were BAD or not good. Just that after the 3rd or 4th try it is soooo awkward and tense. Patience is frayed and there is no good answer of how you got the car back again for the same issues. The funny thing is though that I would not have ever been able to test the car performance because i didn’t trust it on the track. I got gunshy with the lights always going off. And I believe Mac only covers warranty on track days they sponsor. And they only do COTA, New Jersey, and maybe California. None of which worked for me plus they were VERY EXPENSIVE track days....

If they built a reliable car they would give a 4 to 6 year warranty and they would extend a reasonable price for an extension.

If neither is being granted it is for a reason.

I understand but the 675LT versions are out of my price range and still wouldn’t trust bc eventually all cars need repairs and work... especially if driven hard on the track.

Which is why they all tank as the end of warranty approaches, and extended warranties go higher as McLaren tries to stem their underwriting losses. The latest models could be more reliable but it could also be that they're merely newer.

Ya I saw that! It was worse than mine! OMG kept getting names mixed up even after they were corrected... WOW! It is a good example of how the frustration bulds up to crazy levels. Plus if cars werent so amazing no-one would put up with it. But the shine dulls quickly as the years go buy
