Slightly off topic but AMG is offering what they call a Racing Camp later on this year in Valencia: http://www.mercedes-amg.com/driving-...er_English.pdf
Pretty cool bucket list thing to do, albeit at a very steep price.
Can you guys take a close look at what's involved and tell me what you think?
And does anyone know if Porsche offers something similar?
Thanks

The nearest thing that Porsche offers is the Master Cup course held at Nurburgring GP circuit and at Leipzig.

Wow, GTR, GT3 and GT4 and for 4 days ? That’s a lot of incredible cars and will be quite a high speed experience.
The technical/ video analysis of driving at Pro level is top notch and this will be a step above. Really helps you understand how your small driving inputs affect the output of the car at speed.

Took my GTR and my GT3.2 to Spa the other week. Weather wise it was a patchy day with a mixture of wet and dry sessions. Also, the speed difference in the cars on track was far too big. There was everything from a couple of FIAT 500s and a Mini Countryman up to a 488 Challenge Cup car which made for lots of incredibly variable traffic.
As a result, I never managed to get a 100% clear lap so the best I could do was 2:45+ in the GTR which I drove most of the day. My buddy, who is a far better driver than I, mostly drove my GT3.2 and was regularly peeling of 2:40-42s. Indeed he passes me midway thru this video!
The GTR was great fun in the dry but almost undrivable in the wet where the back end wants to step out on the slightest of throttle. GT3 was much more manageable. Much faster in the wet, even stevens in the dry.

If you had your collision assist muted somewhat you could have tracked your friend down braking into corners. Those triple beeps really slowed you down too early.

Surprisingly, well. I had new pads (OEM) and upgraded brake fluid and did not suffer any brake fade all day....but that may have been due to the fact that the sessions were short - just 35mins and its a long lap. By the time you got out there and did a warm-up lap, you then only had around 25mins on track which is 10 laps at best. Indeed, the most I did in one session was 8 laps. Also, while Spa is fast, there are really only two points that are really hard on the brakes and thats the Bus Stop and La Source where you have to haul the car down to 50kph or so. Hockenheim, where I had my brake problems, is a much shorter lap and harder on the brakes.

It doesn't come across in videos though. The underlying growl's frequency is too low for the camera mic to really pick up. You feel it more than you hear it. In videos it just sounds like a wet fart...

The car is so incredibly well balanced that its a dream to drive with ESC Off. In 'Race' mode and ESC off it defaults to two red lights showing on the TC control which I've found to be perfect for my local track. One other positive is that in Race with ESC completely off, the collision avoidance crap is automatically disabled.
