Asking for a new PDK box is a great idea. Worth at least $15K right there.

Hey, now make the car a PTS. Pick any color you want? That would be great comp., too.

Had a similar situation (without fire) on a DD about 10 years ago. VW promised that my car would be just like new after they fixed it. Car had 1000 miles when it was hit badly while parked.
I wanted a new car but was denied and promised full trade in value in writing. Obviously the accident was brought up when I came to trade it in. Nice to have the document in my back pocket and end that conversation.
This would make me feel a bit better, but still not a fuzzy enough feeling yet.

The 991 GT3 has what you could label a rear subframe:

I assume but would make sure that this is within the set of things replaced. I think it is steel but a fire of unknown temperature isn't friendly to steel either.

Exactly. Especially the metal heat fatigue issue!

do all 2016 model year GT3 have the rev. G engine?

what about 2015s?

i assume the DME report should indicate which revision engine is present, correct?

2016 are RS only. Yes, G and G1.

There were a small number of GT3 manufactured in MY2016 (G serial production) before GT3 production ceased in Dec 2015. I'd put these at around 300 units worldwide. They have the G engine from factory but this engine was later updated (warranty replace by units) with the G1 and now G6 engines which have the DLC coated rockers. The G1 engine with its changes were brought into mainstream model run from July 2016 for RS and 911R (prior the RS used the G engine without the DLC cans).

Mark: Can you clarify? I thought:

G had DLC finger followers.
G1 has DLC cam

G6 now also has DLC on the rocker holes for the rocker shaft?

Is the G6 engine the .2 GT3 engine?

Sorry mate.

Yes correct for G and G1.

G6 appears only at this stage a serial range used for PAG warranty replacement engines using the EX part code. Looks like these are July production units so one assumes they are sane as G1 but to be fair we don't know for sure.

Rich, I'm glad you're happy, but I wouldn't be. In every other possible scenario, the car would probably deemed a total loss, yet PCNA thinks repair to "new" condition is possible? Would that have been there conclusion if the GT3 production run was not over?

After the car is fixed- worst case scenario car is not to your standards? What then? They buy back the car? Mike
