Is there any more insight into what failed yet? From a safety standpoint, I want to know if its something I need to be aware of.

Great news! Was it established that a repair (to as new condition) was achievable given the fire damage in the rear?

Good news Rich! Will they be divulging their thoughts on engine failure causation to you?

Great news on the repair. Now the real question will be of you are going to continue to use this car on the track, or use a different car and restrict your GT3 to street use.

I don't have any details on the cause of the failure. They didn't do an engine tear down. The regional guy came out, saw the rod through the block, and approved the repairs. I'm assuming the engine is headed back to Germany for analysis. I will ask for the results, but not sure if I'll get them.

IMO, whether the car can be returned to the state it was in remains to be seen. Porsche's opinion was that it was not going to be a problem. I'll provide my assessment after I get the car back and have had some time on the track.

Rich great news
Best solution
Especially given the investment
You have made in that car
With upgraded gear.

What exhaust did you have on the car
When returned ?

Rich, glad to hear that the outcome is looking favorable. I suggest scrutinizing what they're repairing, accounting for damage from heat which could reduce durability of metal components despite no visible defects at this time.

Great news & happy to hear they are going to try and make it right for you. Since this did not involve collision, I would assume that they should be able to get it to 99% back to normal.
wishing the best for your return to the track,

I think you will be completely satisfied with the results. Even if you decide not to keep the car the condition of the car will be fully acceptable to sell to another party. I would have been surprised and deeply disappointed if Porsche did not accept full responsibility.

I hear you. Might be a good excuse to swap in some upgraded BBi suspension components after Porsche is done with their work.
