My GT3 engine just blew up
My engine just blew up at Road Atlanta. Car was running great prior to that. Ran a personal best of 1:33.4 in second session. In third session car went into limp mode before turn 5 and then started throwing every error code in the book. Thought I could drive it back in limp mode but then it started smoking. Pulled over on the back straight and got out of the car since it was on fire at that point. Watched it burn until fire crew arrived. The most tortuous part was watching them put it on the tow truck since all systems were down and the car couldn't be put in neutral. Assume it is totaled. Will argue Porsche needs to replace it and if that doesn't work I have track insurance. Will need whatever support I can get from the Rennlist community if Porsche puts up an argument. Another chapter in the 991 GT3 engine saga...

Hate it for you; please relay what the Atlanta dealer and PCNA have to say.

Obviously an acute catastrophic engine event. Let us know what they find in the end.
Any idea about how many track days or track miles you have driven since ownership? Engine oil levels were adequate?

Sorry to see this.
But why would this be covered by Porsche? You were driving a street car on a closed race track.
Hopefully your track insurance does. Smart on you for purchasing the coverage.

Porsche warrantee's their product as a certified track car, and they just serviced his car for track service. Happy he's ok, and healthy. Porsche will do the right thing last thing they need is the fear of driving a GT car on the track, and it's not capable. Good luck RM21 .........I remember when you got your car.

Feeling really sorry for your car, glad that you are OK!
Stuff like this should not happen... It is going to be interesting to see what the cause was: Maybe we can learn from it.
