I honestly wonder if they could even sell 3,000 units.
That may be why they are hedging.
If they only sell say 1900 units...it's easy to say we made as many as we could in the time frame vs making 3,000 and having them sit unsold.

This is by no means an inexpensive car and I just am not sure there are 3,000 buyer for a $350-400k 911.

they would sell 4.000 if they would not say how many it will be at the beginning.

i may do not see more than 3.000 drivers. but maybe its even more. it is / will be the best track/road/stock/keepingvalue/warranty/racetrack/evendailydriver car on the planet.

there are other cars which are cheaper, sound better, have more character, are faster on the straigt line, even cheaper AND faster on track. but there is no car if you combine all the single values/experiences.

next to the fact: its the fastest stock and „high“ volumn production car around the NOS.

Yeah I hear you...but when the rubber hits the road will 3,000 people plunk down that much for a 911...that's the question.

I'm just not so sure. 3,000 is a lot of cars.

I wonder about that myself.

Are they intentionally overbuilding? That would make sense if that's how they intend on fulfilling their claim of wanting to discourage flipping.

I think people in general overanalyze what AP says. This is not an official statement, this is casual conversation. He's not trying to be smart and phrase his answer in such a way that he can hedge between 2000 or 3000. The 2000 vs 3000 has nothing to do with translation errors either. Around 2:14:00 he simply says (as already translated above) that a 1000 - more or less - can be built for the EU countries and maybe the same amount for the ROW and USA. Yes you can technically interpret this in both ways, but I would've expected him to state it differently if he meant a 1000 for EU, a 1000 for ROW and a 1000 for USA. There is no as well as another 1000 for USA. Me listening to this tells me the initial estimates are for 2000.

hey!!

as ROW member don´t be that determining.

to get a GT2RS:
(as written in the 10k R thread or as a buddy and me spoken a couple of month ago)

pay 5.000€

flight to the NOS

if you don‘t manage it to get within 10 laps the car below 7:47 sek (around 15% slower than the record)
(insurance retention: 10.000€)
you will not be able to buy one.

all the rest can drive carrera.

than they would sell around 500 cars. and those would be the right ones!
if you flip. than at least you somehow earned it.

You could be right. I was in Amsterdam last week and popped into the main Porsche dealer. They have already been allocated 5 cars, but they did not have an oversubscribed waiting list. It took them 2-days to fill their entire allocation. Their first car will arrive in March.

in Amsterdam things go slower. #420

can‘t take this as fact. as long i do have and know first hand experiences with more than 10 dealers in 3 EU countries where signing a half year before the first presentation - was not early enough to get you one. a lot guys which buy 10 porsche or more a year (company, familie,..) who even didn’t got one.

and dutch are also cars and also porsche crazy. can‘t believe. maybe the dealer just took his time to choose.

if number from fuddman are correct its a bit unfair.
