991 GT2RS

Have just read first review in Top Gear mag.
Not going to post pics here, as it's someone's copyright, but summary is that car performs as expected:
More civilised than previous 2RS, and can deploy all of its powers better than ever before. Not tame, but more useable. Doesn't feel assisted and has razor sharp responses.
The best sounding Turbo engine to date, and ahead of the 488's but not quite as good as the NA.
Ends up by saying it's an awesome car, but reviewer would still prefer 3RS as you 'have to work harder for your speed'. (Seems like dancing on a pin-head to suggests that a 500bhp PDK RS needs hard work to go fast, but there you go).
Conclusion: "When you completely absolutely have to have the fastest car out there...".
That, to me, is preferable to sticking forks in my eyes; others may differ ;-)

Imv don't feel that he's pushing the car past 6/10s at best. I know that layout of Silverstone well, have seen 157/58 in 91RS with a passenger . LT will do early 170s down there again same layout, so at 160 2RS has a lot more to give.
Same for his observation with regard to the Cups getting hot after a few laps. Cups on my 91RS, GT3.2 require dial down after 3 laps, so not sure I get his point on this.
Nice to read something on the 2RS though.

Three Wheelin'
Accelerating to, and driving at >200km/h in a straight line doesn't do anything for me. All risk, zero fun -- achievable with a muscled out $10k Camaro. For me, the straights are both the riskiest and the most boring parts of any track.
The EVO guy only explained why he isn't interested in a gt2rs. Looks like the gt2(rs) is targeting a different clientele.

never understood the fascination with going fast in a straight line?
any modded car can do 150 mph with turbos and a tune
6:47 on the "Ring....now THAT is f'ing exciting!

Yes, agree with the above. (Apolo)
Although the (current spec) Cup 2s are best when new, they do maintain a decent pace on an RS/GT3/R once the pressures have stabilised. (2, maybe 3 bleeds for me, to go from road to stabilised track)
The brakes and rubber will get more of a test from putting down 700bhp and arriving at corners at higher speeds though, so let's hope the same applies.

The GT2RS may be overkill for the road if you live in some speed restricted congested hell hole but drive your new RS out of the factory and you can be enjoying that 0-300 in 22.9s within 20 minutes legally. Porsche cars are made in Germany, land of the Autobahn so many of you including Mr Cat D 996 "i've never been beyond the M25" don't seem to understand that.
I'll just plonk this here in case any of you want to see what a 700+hp GT2 and the Autobahn looks like.

At at least we still have places like Nevada and Montana...

Whilst I enjoyed some good long road drives in my 91RS, it was at its best on track when at 10/10s. The only thing it lacked was more torque and Bhp. The Chassis, aero, always felt it could handle a lot more....I am expecting this 2RS to epic on track...
Hope the revised cooling helps with the braking. Though to be honest I felt that the 91RS CCBDs well up to the job.

Unfortunately you can’t count on them all being “German drivers”. Near the borders you look for little cars with foreign plates, some so desperate to become hood ornaments that they turn into modern-day kamikaze. Inland behavior is far more predictable, but you’ll still find the occasional FNG that feels getting ahead of the next semi is worth their life.
Hammer down, but paranoia is your friend.

Seems like too much car for the reviewer. Not criticizing as that is certainly true for me too.
