Honestly, this shouldn't come as a surprise. There were only 25+ cars allocated to special VIPs (non-918 owners) in the US. Unless, I'm mistaken, you submitted a V070 order, which is basically a request for allocation, nothing more. In this situation, it's not PCNA's fault, it's actually your dealer's fault. Each dealer received an email from PCNA telling them that only 20-30 cars will be available to non-918 owners and they will be allocated based on a review basis.

Other people on RL have put their name on the 911R list over a year ago, and sadly, they won't be getting an allocation as well.

I wonder what is the take rate on the single mass flywheel? 95%? I guess Porsche won't be making any 911Rs until September then!

It's not a mystery that Porsche is actively cultivating the scarcity principle in its halo models, and that their marketing consultants have laid out a strategy aimed at creating exactly the kind of angst expressed in this thread.

there is a sentence in the 918 VIP 911R invite letter about this which I'm copy-pasting here:

"Limiting the 911 R production to 991 examples world wide will ensure that it becomes just as much an object of desire as its 1967 predecessor. Which is just as it should be for a sports car of the purest culture.
Some will rue the fact that the 911 R will be such a rare sight. Owners of the 911 R, however, will be delighted to call such a special 911 one of their own."

Hope that erases any doubt, that what is happening on this thread and others related to the 911R is no accident.. We are Pavlov's Dog and we are being wagged.

^ i understand the idea BUT 73S, RS, 959 etc were special bc they were special cars and not b/c the low production numbers. now PAG use the limited number as a way to make a car special.... a truly special car would be one that has 5000 units or 10000 units and still be a car that's sought after, or a car that won lemans. etc etc. while low production number and scarcity has its place, that alone is not what make a car special. and as great as PAG is, they haven't made that many special street cars throughout their history really. maybe 10-12 models....

Thanks for posting that. Solidifies my feelings about the company.

CAlexio was that in the cover letter from pcna or in material from PAG? The Canadian letter to 918 VIPs that I happened to have seen did not have that paragraph. Granted I only caught a glimpse of someone else's letter so it may have been elsewhere in the accompanying package. Just wondering who wrote that. TIA!

There are stories of people with early build dates being unable to get the smfw. And unable to defer build. Anyone here can verify?

Today, we live in a manufactured fake world. It's about maximizing branding to make you feel like the product is something, not because it actually IS something. In the 70's a 911R was just an idea which became desirable because they didn't think to make that many of them, or maybe they couldn't make that many of them. Today, anything can be done, so production numbers, horsepower, and any other brand attribute is manipulated to fit within a marketing box.. Has nothing to do with the product, just how the product is branded.

I'm not saying anything new, i know..: but to assume otherwise, to assume that anything is real or accidental or authentic.. Is disingenuous. Just pay to play if you like the product.. But don't think for a second you're not being wagged all the way to their bank.

Does anyone have experience with a single mass flywheel in their car? I'm not even sure which P-cars have them as options. Not like I'm getting an R, but I wonder if there's a difference in vibration between SMF vs DMF?

From KresoF1 on RT.

Think this is my perfect car. Would be good to see the look of clear tail light lenses on a GT Silver car.

Anyone have a photo?

I like it------ A LOT!!! Very under the radar. But with a few stealthy, subtle cues that this is more than meets the eye on first glance. I didn't think I'd like the R as much without stripes, but now I'm rethinking that!
