If it had 4-doors I would have to lean towards Sedan but since 2 doors I will agree with Coupe although I do not believe numbers of doors defines this category but for me I see it this way

I dont know, but guess not. But I guess it depending on what car they accually was aming for under development?

Fore sure there must have been some target cars, and looking at price range that target could have been 991 GT3 I guess.

But Its fun that mag put it up to a real competitor like 991 GT3 RS. But no expect it to pull that off, after all GTS is 8 sec slower on the north loop👍

What about reliability/endurance? For me the strength of the GT3 is not its speed but its endurance.
Especially for drivers who are not pro and are not gonna push like hell to exploit 100% of the car. I'm not even talking about setups..

Looks like the GTS is quite light : 1510kg!
But how long does it takes to consume the water on track? And the fuel economy?

I am not at all worried, all cars brake down and wear down on track. Porsche CUP cars got wheelbearings from a cayenne, still you need mantainance and change parts or else failure. GT4 got wheelbearings from Porsche turbo as I recal, still there is a limit For all things. All things eventually brake on Nur, even Porsches. Sure depending on pace and driverstyle, riding them curbs hard or not. I like free service and waranty for this tracktoy. Dont like the pork of it!

and

M4 GTS I am sorry to say not that light. I dont like It but thats the truth. Its 1591kg full gasoline tank. Still its only 4 tenths slower than 991 GT3 on hockenheim short when Christian G drove them. The 991 GT3 tested was 137kg lighter. Christian G comment in sport auto was respect to M4 GTS due to it hang with GT3 even 137kg more porky. Christian by the way was class winner in 24H in Manthey GT4 CS with Christof B from Manthey and some other bloke.

It seems like a missed opportunity for me. Imagine the marketing hype they could build off of beating the GT3 RS. They should have tried harder for weight savings.

Agree, if they Made that happen it would be over the moon cool. Still I was to late on the ball to have a 991 GT3 RS, but I am ok with second best having a GTS👍 Its like the BMW:s RS, most hardcore from them and its perfekt to my need.

One lap on Nur is ca. 1.2 l water used up I think. Its totaly 5 l water. And 60l fuel, so after 4-5 laps depending on speed, its out of gas anyway. And also water. Its all in the test dok how much fuel it take.

They share most part numbers and are virtually the same car in every way that matters except the number of doors and some sheet metal/plastic/cfrp. I'm not dissing it - I bought a GTS (or at least have one ordered). I've owned 3 M3s at this point....I think it's wonderful that they achieved this; it's about time they started aiming for GT3/RS performance.

Just want to add to the topic reliability/endurance. There is to my knowledge only One track in the world that in ca. 2 weeks constantly lappning accually simulate a cars lifelong wear.

As Nurburgring set that hard pressure and wear to a car and its parts car makers rather go full here in 2 weeks to simulate a cars lifetime on the street. Thats the pressure we are talking about. Week spots show them selfe here pretty Quick if you put hard pressure and lap fast over a few weeks. Hence GTS is more safe in the reliability/endurance departement than all other cars thats not been developed @nurbugring. I know alot of great superfast cars thats not been doing hard/plenty development lappning on Nur. If I did buy that car, I would be worried If my plan was to track hard. In GTS , no worries👍

The 991GT3 RS AUTOZEITUNG tested vs M4 GTS @ short GP track Nurburgring was 124kg less porky than the M4 GTS. Still dont like it that porky, but I must live with it

GTS 1600 vs RS 1476kg
