We put in "cobblestone" aka setts (cubes). Ours are in concrete mortar to prevent stuff growing in between, which was fairly labour intensive but is worth it IMO (FWIW we did not put the very traditional pitch grouting between the stones as is often done in Europe, nor just set them in sand which allows all sorts of grass and weeds to take root in the large gaps (open joints) as the stones are somewhat irregular). I haven't found them to be slippery (the stones are quite uneven and so there's lots of grip). All I have at the moment is this crummy (and unkept looking) photo.
If it's of interest to anyone, I can snap a better photo of the stones in the next day or two.
This highly useful site has a lot of useful information about this sort of work. http://www.pavingexpert.com/setts01.htm

Cobra sold already? If not, let's talk.
In regards to this inspirational thread; Never underestimate the power of luck (aka right place right time). Hard/smart work + ingenuity is the minimum bar. I believe in making your own luck, but there's no doubt it plays a huge role whether we want to admit it or not

To use a forum appropriate metaphor, you need to be driving down that road with some sort of direction when the turbo finally kicks in and sends you hurtling in the direction you were already headed.
No doubt this is an inspirational thread to many of us. It never gets old seeing the new stuff posted here!

I like pavers for their ease of replacement if you get any drips or stains on them. We found pavers to be 30% cheaper than the price of stamped concrete, which surprised me.

So the combination of my new GT3, along with this picture thread, inspired me to re-do my garage. Previously it was "builder's beige", with a dozens of holes and shelving from previous owner. My wife (who is a serious "keeper"!) and I removed the old shelves, filled all the holes, prepped the walls and painted bright white with one accent wall in battleship grey. Then installed a Rubbermaid organization system for hanging bikes and miscellaneous items. Purchased two Husky mobile tool shelves. Then we installed a Porsche banner and a dealership sign. Today we installed a Swisstrax floor.
13 boxes of Swisstrax Ribtrax tiles.
Starting the process.
Son home from school for the weekend to help.
Taking shape.
Finished.

Swisstrax tiles are a bit thicker, and are 15 inches square so you need less of them.
Similar product I think.
Swisstrax are made in North America.
...and seem to be very high quality. Very easy to put together.
They were about half the price of Racedeck here in Canada. That may have something to do with the Canadian dollar!
