View from my "office" during a big part of Le Mans Classic 2016:

This is certainly the first delivered in France.
From the VIN, this is the 26th 991 R for the Rest of World serie and the number on the dashboard is 172.

Nice car.

black with red stripes and nozzles in red would look cool, or maybe too much like nipples

Great article from Jethro, on 911R and 918.

Default Can a 911R change its stripes?

This pre-production 000/991 911R seems to feature a new design of stripes. Photos from autogespot and IG (@sommerjams).

I don't know, but guessing they're factory stripes (since photo looks to be taken there on a car with PAG plates), and would also guess customers might be able to request as CXX. But all speculation at this point. Maybe someone with an order can enquire please?

I had specifically requested "deviating border stripes"

Lets see if they come through because this would work really well with my livery colors.

CJ that's really awesome if this is the factory's response to your request! I hope you can do it. Please let us know if it works out or if you find out more.

Yes, I agree that article by Jethro was superb. Amazing to see how porsche has arrived at stellar drivability using such opposite approaches with both the 918 (ultimate tech + power) and R (parsimony). I wonder if the .2 Gt3 will follow the same philosophy as the R and allow the RS to diverge more in following the 918's lead.

A year ago, a friend pointed out that most of us humans spend the first part of our lives getting somewhere, wherever where is, and the other part accumulating inventory. I have tried to avoid the latter and most of all of my inaminate possessions can fit into three suitcases. Notwithstanding, I wish I had bought a 918. Yes, there will be replacements and yes they will be yet faster and more impressive (look at the new, albeit seemingly uncomfortable and far too outlandishly looking, Aston) but there is clearly something about the 918 that is the best of the old and the new Porsche.

I saw a bunch (~10 or so) at the factory today in varying stages of production. Honestly was hoping to be wowed but I walked right past the first one I saw (all white, no stripes). Subtle, in part as intended I guess. Would love to have a ride in one.
