I was just gonna say the same about RWS. Looks like it has it. If it's gonna have that, then it's basically a GT3 with no wing and a manual, and a little bit more light weight parts such as carbon hood and Mag roof. I'd be very surprised if it ends up below 1400kg.

These photos confirm that the 991R is based on the 991.1 as I suggested awhile ago. The only difference seems to be some slightly upgraded tail light graphics.
I still wonder why they have done this.....but I am going to speculate why.
The recent photos of the next GT3 have also still been based on a 991.1 and I heard the other day that the next GTS in October will indeed remain NA with an upgraded 3.8 with 450hp.....so here is my guess.....Until the next Gen comes along in 2019.....all NA cars will continue to be based on 991.1 as a differentiator.

The look is quite disappointing …still hope for something more special, so many secrets this time to let us see a ‘non camo’ car just one week before the launch??
While I begin understanding the rationale under this car (a raw, light, fast, pure, rare car for MT lovers wishing to feel RS sensations with an understated look and a more road compliant ride which make it a perfect and exclusive daily drive), I believe we need some hardcore accents outside to make it feel so special…such as dedicated front and rear bumpers and extended wheel arches over a narrow body (Carrera s and not 4s like GT3).

If 50-70kg as you mentioned, 991 GT3 would be much heavier than 997 GT3 but it's not. Only 35 kg more despite some savings in 991 in other areas as weight was put back with a wider body, PDK, and RWS

here are the first non Camo pictures of the 911 R which will debut to a closed audience on 28 Feb prior to press embargo lifting midnight 28.
I have listed these from AutoGespot via a link from Rennteam.
A few things of interest. The car does have the magnesium roof and the CF hood lifted from the 991 RS. So we assume they have made a serious attempt with weight. With a MT I assume qe are talking around 120lb savings. At this time its unknown if the front fenders are also CF.
Otherwise it is based on the C4S body of the GT3. This is a RHD example ready for decals and display.
Enjoy. The wait is almost over.
Note - the car DOES NOT appear to have any under engine aero devices! The side mirrors are the deviating paint as on GT3/RS.

I still can't believe that this is the final look.
It's just so....lazy
I guess we will see soon enough.

hopefully the front will be different...even the white gt3 nose under the stickers looks like a camo, too prominent... clearly visibile in the picture from behind, it hides the real bumper
