Default Reference Guide to PTS in a MY2016 991 gt3 RS

IMO Signal is the top variant of yellows. I love the orange hue. Similar to Mclarens Orange of the 70's and the new F1 livery

I'm a big light yellow fan, not sure it works on modern cars though and it also isn't approved.

Default To add to our 'Slate Grey-615' vs Slate Grey-Y97' discussion...

Since I am trying to make this the PTS reference thread for those interested in this subject:

I have an order incoming in 615 and I'm not convinced the AWE pictures aren't enhanced photoshopped given the colors on the taillights, emblems etc in their original thread.

I'll find out in October for sure what it looks like when my Targa arrives.

*******

But I still want to know what the 'Slate Grey' Y97 actually looks like. To further confuse us, PAG initially didn't have color code Y97 listed as 'Slate Grey/Schiefergrau'. In earlier 991 / 981 / Panamera PTS approved lists published since 2012, that Y97 color code was first called ''Silberstein/Silver Stone'! It is only in just recent months that PAG has changed the name associated with Y97 and now calls it 'Slate Grey' too!

By the way Nate, the earliest appearance of 'Slate Grey' as a Porsche offering happened in MY1960 for the 356B as color code 6001. So that was the 'original' 'Slate Grey' at PAG.

Still in the Hood...but now cloudy and cool!

This is also supposed to be RAL 7015, so the rendering seems ok compared to it.

That which you posted above Nate helps makes my case that Y97 'Slate Grey' looks a lot like that show 991 car in Geneva which Suzy911 originally posted in this forum a while back!

In contrast to the AWE 991 Turbo in PTS 'Slate Grey', color code 615, which looks quite different...and more like the vintage/historic Porsche 'Slate Grey'!

Man, I sure like that Pinto!!! I had a '75 Volvo that color too.
Btw, I love the signal RS green on the 991 including the interior. The configuration requires you to paint the outline of the console though, once you choose to paint the dash stripe.
I'm doing mine in UV.

Default My Opinion On Painted Interior Trim...

It's a matter of personal taste. But since dertub asked my opinion on that subject on another thread, let me share that response with all of you! You only need 'air vent slats' in your exterior hue to effectively bring that 'splash' of color into the interior cabin. And that works best if you are ordering a bright & noticeable exterior paint on your vehicle, especially a PTS! The beautiful leather trim & decorative stitching on that $1720 option is an added bonus!

The rest of trim painted in the exterior color might be superfluous & overpowering - especially since dash/door trim on the 991 is particularly 'wide' as compared to the slimmer 997 design!

I would suggest doing the dash, door & console outline trim items all in 'leather' to create a non-reflecting yet elegant trim look! My dos centavos, for what it's worth.

Does anyone know if Porsche will possibly do the RS decal in Lava Orange and have P O R S C H E written on top of the wing in Lava Orange a la 4.0?

My dealer doesn't think so, but he's still waiting for an answer.

I've got a lot of painted parts inside my cabin. It was a bit much at first but I really like it now. Wouldn't spec the car another way. We almost did the same thing with yellow in the GT4 but it really adds to the price of the car.

Now if we could get 'Chartreuse/Lindgrün', color code 226, approved we would all have something to celebrate!

Brett is just reporting a PTS color approved...but he hasn't yet disclosed the model being ordered with this PTS approved color or the customer doing the ordering! Or is Mr. Payne leasing a second Porsche already?

Received confirmation of PTS for my RS. Was originally a Sept build now pushed out to Dec to pick up the PTS slot. Going with Gelbgrün Uni code 137.

Should be close to this:
