991 GT3 RS - Confirmed Orders

I know that PAG/PCNA want my US dollars and all of your US dollars so they'll build more cars than everyone thinks. Why the hell would they care about car exclusivity? They are in it to make money not to make the first buyers feel special. Guess I should have sold all of my organs and bought a 918 if I wanted to be one of the first ones to get a 991 RS. ![Stick Out Tongue](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)

Having seen the Porsche production line recently, with a GT3 and GT3RS on it at the same time maybe 50 cars apart, I do not believe any quantity limits at all; I had heard production of the GT3 was to end in 2014.

I guess the person who told you production of the GT3 was to end in 2014 was wrong, maybe he meant to say 2015.

On what basis would PAG end MY2016 production half way through the model year?
To rephrase: Why would PAG invest the R&D, and also spin up suppliers for the new materials / parts, only to prematurely end the model year for the 991.1 GT3 RS? The 991.2 mid-generation refresh won't hit until MY2017, anyway, and even then there's always the regular 911 -> GT3 -> GT3 RS delay.
The only reason to end the MY early would be if we were in the same scenario as the 991.1 GT3 -> 991.1 GT3 RS shift where they needed the capacity to build the RS, and also because historically once the RS is out, sales of the regular GT3 plummet.

Yes, but this is not new news. This is the same "speculation" / "rumor" / "truth" / "news" that existed from the initial onset of 918 VIP allocs and the subsequent first wave.
700 to the US, ~230 consumed by 918 VIP's. And at this point we are all just regurgitating this information, along with all our dealers, and all our "sources."
I'm not saying it's incorrect / false, but what I am saying is that it doesn't make business sense.
Also, "700 cars coming to the US and all current allocs have been spoken for" is not the same as "all 700 cars have been allocated."
Either way, there's production capacity that pretty much runs from January 2016 - March/April 2016... If they end MY2016 early (December 2015), what are they going to be doing? Building GT4's only? Highly unlikely.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
All I can say is PCNA is no doubt going to try to get more capacity from PAG... Why? Demand is high enough, and they like money (just like PAG does). Patience is likely a good prescription right now.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Some examples from that thread:
So, what does this mean? And what point am I trying to make?
I'm trying to say that it's unrealistic that PAG will prematurely end the 2016 Model Year for the 991.1 GT3 RS (given how much effort it takes to spin up a new model) by making December 2015 the final production start month.
There's still January 2016 builds, February, March, probably even April / May 2016 (the 991.1 GT3 probably won't have my V260's past last month, March 2015, because they need to re-tool things for the RS, but there's nothing planned for after the RS yet).

Having been to the factory, I've been surprised to find many different models of the 911 on the same production line with only the robotically delivered Parts Cart Contents being changed. I doubt if they have to stop making one model before another model can be made as many of the earlier Auto Factories were required to do. It seems to me Porsche can make GT3s and GT3RS's on the same production line to respond to incoming orders, assuming both models meet the Government requirements of the importing country. With that flexibility to respond to markets, incoming orders may be the most important factor
in production allocations - which would be a very sensible approach in assuring maximum profitability.
With the global unpredictability of Economic conditions and Exchange Rates, a flexible production schedule
which responds rapidly to actual market conditions gives Porsche huge financial advantages.

I'm certain they can. They just confirmed last year that they won't.

That, and because when the 997.x GT3 RS came out, sales for the 997.x GT3 plummeted dramatically.

More dealerships DID NOT get the vehicle than dealerships did. Allocations were based on 911 sales. Some of the biggest dealerships don't sell any 911's. So they wouldn't qualify. A regional Rep told me 380 units available to the public after 918 and Friends of family. If there was still confusion.

Most small ones will get 1 ot less. There is always a long time best customer at a small dealer. If you are not it it sucks.

I'm just gonna say it since I've seen a lot of members trying to get an allocation. I'm not advertising for a dealership. If you'd like to know where to find one. I know where one is unspoken for. zacharymartin70@gmail.com
