On what basis would PAG end MY2016 production half way through the model year?

To rephrase: Why would PAG invest the R&D, and also spin up suppliers for the new materials / parts, only to prematurely end the model year for the 991.1 GT3 RS? The 991.2 mid-generation refresh won't hit until MY2017, anyway, and even then there's always the regular 911 -> GT3 -> GT3 RS delay.

The only reason to end the MY early would be if we were in the same scenario as the 991.1 GT3 -> 991.1 GT3 RS shift where they needed the capacity to build the RS, and also because historically once the RS is out, sales of the regular GT3 plummet.

If, and this is a HUGE IF, I'm willing to pay over MSRP for the 991 RS it WILL NOT BE TO A DEALER but it will be to an individual private party seller. Bad enough to pay over MSRP but to pay sales tax on top of that is like getting kicked in the nuts twice.

Just a matter of time before you and/or Mooty decide to want to sell to me. Best thing, you guys know I'm not a tire kicker and wire funds over quickly.

10 percent over maybe cheap if there are only 700.

Everyone has their allocation already. That said, Porsche will likely hold back 10-20 cars that may be allocated at the end as dealer perks for top sellers so I would hit them up first. Production will cease in December for RSs. No word on 991.2 RSs. Everybody saying otherwise is likely guessing based on historical data.

Hope this is helpful. I was lucky to have a V200 for one of the first non 918 allocation.
Same story from my dealer, the 1.1RS list has become the 1.2RS prayer group.

i was told just drive off track, turn the wheel abruptly and hit the tire wall at an angle, you will flip easily. but i dont want to prove the theory.

i know ur pain. a lot of the cars are optioned funny by dealers. i dont have issue with loaded cars. but some are just strange mix of options. lwt battery with iron rotors for exmaple

Yes, but this is not new news. This is the same "speculation" / "rumor" / "truth" / "news" that existed from the initial onset of 918 VIP allocs and the subsequent first wave.

700 to the US, ~230 consumed by 918 VIP's. And at this point we are all just regurgitating this information, along with all our dealers, and all our "sources."

I'm not saying it's incorrect / false, but what I am saying is that it doesn't make business sense.

Also, "700 cars coming to the US and all current allocs have been spoken for" is not the same as "all 700 cars have been allocated."

Either way, there's production capacity that pretty much runs from January 2016 - March/April 2016... If they end MY2016 early (December 2015), what are they going to be doing? Building GT4's only? Highly unlikely.

All I can say is PCNA is no doubt going to try to get more capacity from PAG... Why? Demand is high enough, and they like money (just like PAG does). Patience is likely a good prescription right now.

I don't get it either, this is one of the highest MSRP cars Porsche makes, with Turbo/S being discounted and a waiting list for the RS how does it not make sense to produce more...no matter brand exclusivity.

Indeed. And they can still produce more, and still maintain sufficient exclusivity. Look at the 991.1 GT3. It's still exclusive enough, and practically everyone on here that wanted one, got one (or could've gotten one). (And, of course, only us Rennlisters matter.)

Unlike the Turbo S, however... There's several hundred brand new ones on the market right now, at $25k - $30k off MSRP (if you try hard enough). *That* can is not exclusive.

I know that PAG/PCNA want my US dollars and all of your US dollars so they'll build more cars than everyone thinks. Why the hell would they care about car exclusivity? They are in it to make money not to make the first buyers feel special. Guess I should have sold all of my organs and bought a 918 if I wanted to be one of the first ones to get a 991 RS.

Are there a significant amount of dealers getting no allocations? Seems strange for some to get 10 and others to get none.
